Good first half

I expect there will be a bunch of substitutions at half time.

Will Baze leave Wood on to get his hattrick?

I hope so. Likely only game he ever plays in the city that made him.

On that point Logan has been a bit MIA in his home town. Hoping he can nick at least one goal in front of friends and family.

Off topic a bit but does anyone here know why Shane Rufer played so little for NZ?

Obviously not as good as his brother or son but was a pro when NZ struggled to make them so surely he should have played more then 11 games over 13 years.

Also - a little stat I just looked up - Vanuatu's goal tonight was the first time the All Whites have conceded to an OFC nation since March 2022 when we beat New Caledonia 7-1

Garbett not far behind. Sorry, only got onto the game at 50 minutes and up until now, I am trying to figure out how they scored 5 in front of such a "bumper" crowd. Meanwhilse Sky sits empty
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Garbett was our best player in the first half.

Sarpreet looking a bit rusty with some touches which is no surprise - but he is trying to create and play very postively which is good to see. Would love to see him assist Wood's 3rd

Eli Just gets the 6th

And Chris Wood won't get his hattrick as he's subbed off

I'm quite excited to see McCowatt, I feel like he's been a bit in the wilderness of late - even though he's playing at a really solid level

Also had those two really good chances after his two goals in the first half.

Decent injury layoff too let's not forget. Only just coming back into the first at club level the past couple of weeks.

10,513 is the announced attendance

Edit: Just for reference I heard this wrong - Procrastinixing got it right as it was 10,113 - my bad

10,113 crowd? Is that correct?

Edit, no 10513.

But our matches are so popular and in demand that Christchurch has to wait until the new stadium comes in

Elijah Just's highlight reel of goals these past couple of months. 🤌

Also, that was a lovely little move for Singh's goal there. Superb crisp one touch passing.

How good is Chris Wood, premier league striker up amongst the young ones signing autographs and being in selfies, treasures for those fans

Job done. And nice to see the guys keep the foot on the gas throughought. For a striker, in his last couple of AW's caps Ben Waine's not been very clutch when it comes to actually receiving the ball. Awesome for Wood to get to show off his skills in his hometown.

Man I missed seeing Singh play, he's had terrible luck in his career. Come to think about it now with Olds injury a few of our brightest talents have had terrible luck.

Unless my hearing of the ground announcer was wrong I’m sure he said 3000 and something. Which looked about right

If it was 10k good effort. that however would fill almostbhalf that stadium and I don’t think it was near that

Not just a premier league striker, but one of the best centre forwards in the world right now, signing autographs for kids in the 'Tron. Amazing to see.

Tears in my eyes seeing Singh back and looking fit, fast and a lot like his old self.

POTM Garbett by a country mile.

Several changes incoming for Monday. Won't be a happy encounter for Samoa at all, honestly hope we show some mercy towards them.

Pretty wasteful in patches. But maybe that’s just me predicting 10+ goals

If Waine starts against the amateur Samoans he needs fill his boots. He got a bit frustrated not getting the ball when he wanted it today

But in summary we learn very little about the AWs from these games. Thank god it’s all over in 3 windows

Paladin too much hyperbole. Our players are good, but they were playing (Kaltak excepted) part timers at best. Leave over gushing praise for leeeague

He was over in Switzerland with Wynton I think and in those days there were probably only those 2 in Europe and logistically it was harder to see them play and to come home for games etc. Of course Wynton went then to Bremen where he couldn’t of hidden if he wanted to. I remember Shane seeing Shane playing for NZ and I recall him as being very solid.
