Not many - friendlies carry low weighting, and rightly so.

If rumours of the Euro scouts being in the crowd are true, this world cup could really cause a lift in our skill base if more players get picked up overseas.

Realised I was just stating the obvious there, but if you'd asked me 2 days ago, I would have said NZ would still have meagre awareness  on the world stage, now I think it's actually possible we may get over the development slump we have had, we would have even more players in big leagues and therefore get on more even terms with international teams more regularly, like on a level with Oz's jump up in standard.

Anyway, keep it up lads!

oh, right - great game, altho' on my fuzzy internet video stream I spent the first five minutes supporting the Serbs ..... what's that all about then? The Serbs dress as All Whites and the All Whites dress as All Blacks - bit hard to take in at 3am in the morning.

According to recent media reports the All Blacks are to dress up as All Whites during Bloodyslow Cup.

It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world...

The Warriors are also getting in on the act wearing their white strip both home and away.

Based on what I saw with my own eyes, Lochhead was really solid, just think through the players he fought off. Pretty outstanding.
No as for Bertos, out of position and messed around instead of clearing, frankly could have cost us the match.

Just watching Rooney, Lampard & Waldacott up close in Graz. Fantastic crossing & passing.
Japan just scored from a corner, kept it low on the ground.

[QUOTE=S.O.N] Ranking points = 100(result x status x opposition strength x regional strength)

Result - Win = 3

Status Friendly = 1

Strength Serbia, 15th = (200 -15)/100 = 1.85

Regional Strength Europe 1, Oceania 0.85 = (1 + 0.85)/2 = 0.925

100(3 x 1 x 1.85 x.925) = 513.4

I have been reading bad translations of Serbian news reports for fun. Mostly the fun comes from trying to work on earth they are on about (Smeltz is apparently our "leading car", while Vidic calmed the crowd by talking about throwing kittens into the water).

Elliot to me has lifted his game, against aussie, now Serbia, Not bad for a 36 yr old. Apart from the WC he's playing for a contract to finish off his career i guess. Good on him.

I think the question is more like who got Smeltz's shirt?

I think he turned Vidic down because he'd promised it to someone else!

Vidic was pants by the way.  All three of our back three > Vidic.

Ajnyways. the early part of the game was interesting with the AW long passes being way off target - was that due to the altitude and mis-judging the effect on flighting the ball

Klagenfurt is 452m above sea level, that doesn't really qualify as high altitude.

We are not playing at particularly high altitude in any of our games. Jo'burg is +2k, but Rusty is +1150m, Polokwane is +1200m and Nelspruit is +660m - so all higher than Klagenfurt but not a massive factor.

The balls been designed in a way to combat high altitude anyway. Design fail?

To be honest, I think its a media conspriacy. Sky at the urging of the NZRU clearly asked for the game to be played at a time when kids watch cartoons and adults like to sleep.

German news report of the game

Not understanding German it's funny the small bits you can pick out - like mentioning Fallon being aggressive, and naming the clubs of the players that Smeltz got past for his goal.

Hey Junior maybe you should think of moving the family back to Palmy, Central Football had the foresight not to schedule any kids games on Saturday morning (although they said it was because of Queens Birthday not the Slovenia game).

No chance! (But thanks)

Being here in K-Town (South) the kids get to wear look-a-like Toon strips and play just a s shabbily as the real thing.

To move to Palmy there would have to be a team with blue shorts, white, white shirts with a nice cock perched atop a ball.

(and build a decent stadium without chicken wire)
