I dunno, but I am pissed that you guys didn't beat this Central American team tonight

I knew that smartarse  but it is easier to say South American to make my point

South American teams are better than Central American teams though so your point was trying to cheat

Honduras is in North America.

Actually they are Central American but I was just making a point.

Depends on your definition of North America.

Central America is more specific. All Central American countries are in North America, but not all North American countries are in Central America.

I define them as "North American" by their CONCACAF membership.

I thought you were making reference to Hondurans living in the USA (and maybe taking away jobs from the Canucks).

I like this kid Wood - he just creates havoc in opposition defenses.

Paston - the way a guy his size can get down to those low shots is impressive - great save.

Reid - looking forward to seeing him play on Tuesday.

Note to Nix; Honduras - these guys came from the other side of the world and played in 20 degrees cooler than they are used to and they can front.  Three hours across the Tasman really isn't that big a deal - is it ?

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I have it on good authority that the words of wisdom printed on Wood's arse were "woodzzy" .
A bit poor really as his arse is big enough to have a sonnet or two printed across both cheeks

Reid was pretty poor imo, and where was Nelsen for their goal? But great game of footy, although disappointing

A bit of a let-down to 'only' draw - who would've thought I'd ever say that for the AWs playing a top-50'ish team?

Thought we had more clear-cut chances - only some poor finishing, a couple of great saves, and even our own players getting in the way stopped us from getting the W.

he is a decent striker - seems a bit full of himself

tv quote "I had a great game" a bit unusual for a footballer to talk himself up like that

and the undies booking - a bit silly

oh well, i guess he is still young and if he keeps developing at his current rate he will continue to write himself into nz footballing history

Apparent you didn't see Elliott shooting at practise. He missed from a yard out, over the bar, Imagine asking him to shoot from 12 yards out, the ball will be in the 10 row.

Usually Smeltz does a good job at the penalties, I don't recall him ever missing until tonight. Maybe they should have gone with Wood since he had a goal already and you hardly complain against the guy who got you the first goal. Wood apparently had the best shooting at training the other day.

Best player on the park was either Nelsen or Vicelich. Notable mention to Paston who played superbly again in NZ colours.

Considering how dominant we were and how many chances we created our attack was disappointing. We should of been 3 or 4 up by half time. Really should of won.

Three for me, and two for them.

Apparent I wasn't in Auckland nor do I see Elliottt every single day or know much about him.

He's our set piece taker so I was asking a fairly valid point.Scottishbhoy2010-10-09 22:37:23

Well there was a news video on their training somewhere that had that info, including Mully's goal against the 2nd team. Elliott is not known for his goal prowess but for his accurate delivery in passing. When there is a goal in-front of him, he has the problem of trying too hard and then missing over and away. If he only act as though it was a pass delivery with a bit of a swing, he would be more successful. But alas, he just can't do it.

Oooh I hope it is an ET reference. Ellioottt.....

Back on track. I thought it was an exciting game and gutted bout the penalty.

What was the atmosphere at the game like. Not sure bout the others that watched on TV but there was some random things picked up on the sideline microphone from the crowd. Like 'shut the F up' etc. Heaps funny.

Twice the commentators called Honduras a South American team. That is pretty embarrassing.

Was an exciting game and sort of hoped Smeltzy would miss the penalty as I thought it was soft and a bit hard on Honduras. O'Leary was sh*t all game.
Some great saves by Paston and why wasn't Leo taking the corners in stead of Elliottt? His free kicks were actually good tonight whereas Elliottts corners hardly ever got past the first player. Thought Elliottt had a good game though apart from that.

Wood was involved a lot more than Killen who did nothing but foul. Did he think he was playing the Rory Fallon role from the World Cup?

Shame Clapham didn't get more time. Hopefully he will in Wellington.

yeah I liked the way Wood got involved in everything... in a few years he should be finishing all those chances. Someone forgot to tell Elliott the point of a free kick / corner isent to hit the first line of defense. And along the lines of the commentators being embarrassing did anyone else pick them up saying "good clearance there buy Glenn Moss"

To those who SITTING in the White Noise zone behind us who kept complaining that we were standing - I hope you enjoyed looking at my back! The security were going to kick us out to, and said they would have kicked out the bulk of those standing if there weren't so many of them. They had no idea.

Apart from that, great game, I had a blast, as did a bunch of football virgins I took along. O'Leary was rubbish, I thought we were the better team, so its a shame we couldn't pick up the result. Smeltz won't sleep well tonight. We were not bad considering we hadn't played together for a while. Elliottt was brilliant, I thought, Wood was great too, defenders as sound as always. Number 7 Honduras is not welcome around at my house for tea.

The worst thing about this game - apart from Judas's screw-up - was the fact that the Zone was ruined by threatening thugs in leather jackets who didn't realise that we stand up at the football. Many of us shifted to Bloc 31 in the second half and had much more fun there.

But I'm proud that Auckland proved we can host a decent football match.

Enjoyed the chant 'nothing rhymes with Ivan Vicelich'.
Honduras seemed to pass it into space down the right and even if we reached the ball it was put out, so they had a great position outside the box.
Brockie made space all night.
Was about to say a draw was a fair reflection, but physically hold our man in the box is plain wrong. I bet we are practising penalties for the next few days.

I wouldn't mind knowing what was the deal when block 5 was assigned the "White Noise zone". 60 percent of the zone was sitting, the bulk of which were families. Were these people sold these tickets unaware that it was the zone or were they unaware of what the WNZ is? We got quite a bit of grief from security and sitting patrons about standing when at the end of the day, we were doing what you do in the zone. We paid extra to be in the zone, and we decided we would do it regardless, because for us that is the football experience we love. Perhaps in the future it needs to be much more obvious for fans what the WNZ is when people buy the tickets, so they know "WE STAND UP AT THE FOOTBALL"!

Bloc 5 gave birth to Yellow Fever. It is where it all began, almost 11 years ago today. That is why it was assigned as the White Zone.

Three for me, and two for them.

Just back from the game. Winston walked right past me as I held out my Hammers shirt and wouldn't sign it. Pretty gutted about that.

Gutted we didn't grab the win. Apart from Smeltz's miss we should have scored another couple.

Yes weak penalty but thought Honduras GK was bloody lucky not to be sent off. From where I was sitting it looked like he pushed O'LEary (don't blame him TBF).

My MOTM: Jeremy Brockie, closely followed by Elliottt.

I was in Block 3. Was shocked everyone sat back down after the anthems. I didn't sit during the entire Bahrain match, and I'm pretty sure that went for the entire crowd.

Thought White Noise could have done better with their singing, but if 60% were fairweather supporters guess that explains that.

Fair enough, I understand that. Unfortunately half of block five didn't get the memo!
