Food for thought, Reid might be better off further up the field.

Overall disappointed with a draw (and crowd) but like people have mentioned, how many of us would've complained about a draw with Honduras a year ago?  I'd guess not many.  I was glad Wood got his first goal but overall our strikers couldn't finish a sandwich.

New haircut did the trick. Brockie was outstanding tonight.

A bit poor really as his arse is big enough to have a sonnet or two printed across both cheeks
Apparently, if he'd been a little more excited about scoring, it was supposed to say 'WelcOme tO new ZealanD and have a nice daY'

I think Footpaul isn't questioning the location,  but whether the White Zone was created mid-way through sales, due to the behaviour/nature of some the folks around him, who didn't seem to expect the usual Fever Zone/Bloc 5 standing/chanting.

Again, issues with the fairweather supporters getting tickets in amongst the die-hard fans.

Happened at LA Galaxy, and somewhat less at the Bahrain game, happened pre-season for the 'nix in Hamilton too.

I don't expect there will be much trouble on Tuesday, as security are aware of it. Just really annoying that it's not clearly noted for people to see before they buy tickets.

Can't expect the muppet staff at Ticketek to remember to tell everyone, but the least they could do would be making a note of it on the Ticketek website.
A simple "standing area only" would suffice.

And I wouldn't want to be Smeltz's boot sponsor :PArd Righ2010-10-10 03:00:18

Okay I bought my ticket for the white noise to stand up and sing for my team, As soon as the anthem finished everyone behind us sat down. About 10 guys keeped on abusing us and trying to fight us if we wouldn't sit down. So we decided to leave our seats and go find some where else to stand. We talked to the security guards but they were saying they said they can't do anything about it. This just really put a damper on our evening. We then moved around to the other side and stood with most of the people from the Wellington. And I would just like to thank them for showing us a good time.

I live on the North Shore and I would prefer that you don't bring another game here. People here don't know how to support a team and most of them are just rugby idiots.
Rant over.

Apart from that it was an entertaining game that I think we should have put away a few more goals, but at least we didn't loose :)

Security told us they would kick us out if we didn't sit and said the same applied for those standing further up in the block. We figured if enough of us stood they couldn't do anything. We stood almost the entire second half (we were in the very front row) which forced many of those behind us to stand too. I'd love to know what they were thinking when they purchased White Noise tickets.

I'm a Shore boy too and despite a good turn out, very few were in white and making their support heard. In the defence of most people, they don't know the chants and most Aucklanders don't understand the football culture Wellington has with the Yellow Fever. So next time we should make sure to educate fans on how is appropriate to act at football match. I'm looking forward to Christchurch showing us how its done next year (hopefully).

f**k me.

to all these people whooooooo are saying "oh, but what would we have thought 2 years ago"
blah blah blah

- STOP LIVING IN THE PAST !! ffs did you watch the game ? we could have won, maybe should have won and in the end it was a disappointing result and some might say the performance was a bit sh*t but I thought it was alright except for one old man on the park who looked like benjamin button being born with a number 7 on his back.

3 corners did not make it past the first man. 3. And some wonder why he hasn't got a club.....

Chris Wood  - when you're in that position aiming for the far post - HIT IT WITH THE OUTSIDE OF YOU'RE FOOT !!!! ffs.

Smeltz - GO HOME. tbh, I just knew he would miss (but not like that) you know THAT feeling ? did nothing all game and yea probably because of the sh*t service from Benji.

Bertos - get your thumb out your ass and play your usual attacking football. And don't run the ball out of play next time ffs. That's schoolboy stuff.

oh and the Auckland crowd was a bit sh*t also. it was just an airy silence on t.v with an occasional ohhhhhh when they did an overhead kick to clear the ball.......

Next time Wellington, Christchurch or out of NZ tbh.

Honestly, some of you on here need to get your head out of the sand.

I don't get that the idea that, if you don't want a stadium full of rugby idiots, you should play it in Crimechurch

Seriously, guys, the "having a go at Auckland" stuff is getting real old, and we will never develop "football culture" here if you don't let us have any games.

Did you ever attend a Kingz or Knights match?

No, I moved to AKL in 2006. First game I attended at NHS was the NZFC final of that year. I would like to pack out the Coalface Football FC games, but uncloz told me I wasn't welcome.

Really entertaining game, I thought it was a great spectacle to watch and most people around us (in the open stand) enjoyed it too.

I completely agree with everyone that the White Noise Zone should be standing only, pretty easy decision there but if you were the average sport fan of the 18,000 who showed up, how would you know that? Point the finger at NZF who should have passed the message on to Ticketek who to be fair need a damn good kick up the ass in all aspects of ticket selling process.

So 18,000 people came out from all over Auckland for the first decent game of Football since the Knights beat Perth 2-0 with Ricki in charge. Damn good effort I though, especially the bagging the city has got on here for being apathetic, and yet still people think Auckland is "not worthy", stop being so arrogant, you can't shove a game in there an expect it to sell out in 10 minutes, everyone to be chanting in perfect unison and harmony and standing as one while our glorious All Whites bang 6 past and Mulligan whips in a beautiful freekick from 30 yards out.

Anyway, about the game, i'm really impressed with Chris Wood, that kid will be a superstar if he works hard and keeps on the rails. The # of 50/50 balls he wins is incredible, uses his size well and if he works on his accuracy he'll be unstoppable. Smeltz and Killen were largely anonymous. Brockie was outstanding on the wing, some great crosses and reaked havoc, compared to Bertos who I thought played well but was dragged a lot deeper due to his man attacking a lot more than Brockie's. Elliottttt oozed quality in the midfield, so calm on the ball and always an option to come through the middle from the back, seriously, Ricki sign the man. Brown had a few token bruising challenges and late runs into the box but I thought he didn't offer too much apart from that. The defense was solid as per usual with Lord Nelsen in the middle, Ivan was cool calm and collected, Reid looked rusty as hell and it was his fault for the goal, got out jumped by a certifiable midget. For shame. Paston was so so solid once again, surely starting for the Nix against Heart, some fine saves low down and not at fault for the goal.

Overall I thought we outplayed them for the first 65, then 20 they had us and the last 5 we switched on again. We created plenty and looked solid at the back so good signs all round and no reason at all to get all angsty about things. Well, apart from that penalty, but we won't go there. Here's a video instead.

(Why can't we embed youtube videos on here? Bummer.

Would be nice if that stand went the whole way around. (click for jumbo version)

like I said, Smeltz never got good enough service. Keep him. Macglinchey will give him it.

And Herbert won't drop Bertos will he so.......

Wood can't be dropped, he was the goal scorer and played well apart from that miss.

Agreed. Too small to bag other regions. last night was a good turn out. This is why these friendly internationals are important.

Despite numerous assurances of a sell-out many weeks before the game I wasn't convinced.  Now that the crowd was mediocre at best people are talking about how we just need to give Auckland a chance to develop like Wellington.  Surely what's more important is that NZF make their money back so they can afford more of this type of game in the future? loyalgunner2010-10-10 12:15:25

Actually we went a long way in three days.

In June 1995, 3 days after losing 7-0 to Uruguay, we drew 2-2 with the same opposition!

I know, I know, its serious!

I've heard from many places that 20 000 was required to break even.   And I don't hate Auckland, I used to live there so stop jumping to overly defensive conclusions.  Regardless of what you say I think it was a mediocre crowd.

Which reminds me. When getting Elliott signature we asked him if he is going to sign for a club soon. He said he's not to sure. So I offered for him to come to the Nix. And he said what are you offering. We said a crap load of beers and a few grand. He went off laughing and said not a bad offer :)
