I was speaking to a number of workmates yesterday who did not even know that the big game was on tonight! As it is going to be perfect weather for footy, they now have no excuse not to head along to the Ring of Fire.

Dom Post have done the game no favours by burying Sam Worthington's preview on the inside pages without even a photo. But there was a photo of the firebirds warming up???

So frustrating. A big front page article would sell so many walk-up tickets on a nice Tuesday evening. NZ Media...pull finger. What was the coverage like on TV3/TV1 news last night?

TVNZ was excellent. Led with the AWs and TV3 was also a decent length piece but later in the sports segment.

So, the effort made by the T Vnetworks to profile the game only makes me more disappointed with the Dom P, given 15,000 Wellingtonians (its readers) have already bought tickets to a game in its home town.

And its not Sam Worthington's fault. he's done a really good job last week or so, in fact since he stepped in for Fred. Its an editorial decision to bury his good work inside.

TV3 mentioned ticket sales and how there had only been about 15k sold as of yesterday. They did say ticket sales had picked up though. I think Mike Hall should have said the weather was going to be calm with a high of 24 degrees to get a few more casual fans along

The walk up crowd at NHS was pretty pitiful but I reckon with the location of the ROF one would expect the walk up crowd down there to be much better.

Any news on the injury to Nelsen and whether he will be playing?

I too am disappointed that the Dom has not come to the party. Dom Post has changed in recent times to be more knocking of football than promoting it. They obviously feel that football cant sell papers as much rugby and the commonwealth games. Going to cancel my subscription and get all my football news from here. Yellow Fever!

Yip Dom Post are rubbish, I have boycotted their online news site and the paper edition. How could they not put this game on their front page after what this team did for the city (and country) last november, quite frankly, its bloody disrespectful and disgusting.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

I think it is ridiculous that we have not got a neutral ref for this game. is this just a case of NZF hiding from the cost of flying an aussie over the tasman for the night?
