thats a good call. When I made a banner, I just had more of the material to tie knots round it but that was dodgy because it sorta almost nearly broke. Get something strong that will actually hold together in the wind. Velcro could work

you could just use some rope. thin rope would cost bugger all. or cable ties, could give you some if you wanted? got heaps for work.

another thing for the wind is possiblly hanging a couple of full bottles of water off the bottom to stop it from blowing around so much.

just a few ideas forya.

It does, the Daniel Fan Club banner is held onto the rails with it. The best upgrade from the mylon rope we used to use. It did not move an inch yesterday. Brilliant upgrade.

The YF Banner should be upgraded too, save Ballane a fight to get it up secured and so too those other Brazilian fellas with the mega long awesome banner, save them loads for their lead tape.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Good work on those banners! *smile*

Anyone got any others? "White Power" sign brought a chuckle, but it could easily be misinterpreted by non-NZers. I also had a chuckle at "Keep the ball away from Mohammad", and the "All ------" scarf that made it to the Stadium big screen held up by one lady (All Black scarf with "Black" whited out).

And did anyone catch what was on the banners to the left and right of the one I helped created located near the Bahraini section of the crowd? Tis hard to read banners from the wrong side.

Oh what? If you looked close enough it clearly said "all WHITE's POWER"

haha, and I may be wrong, but it looked like a Maori or Polynesian Fella who was holding it, which I thought made it all the more funnier.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

It was so OBVIOUSLY a piss-take of the White Power movement, so (being a "non-White") easily saw the lighter side - even without knowing that it said "all WHITE's POWER".

I was however at the same time worried about that sign because it would very easily have been misinterpreted.

I hope my letter brings you a smile, rather than a laugh, if they choose to print it.

And I hope someone can send me a clipping if it does get printed, for the scrapbook of the weekend I am planning to make.

Not sure if the writer was at the game - started off by saying something like "as an American living in NZ..."

Will read it again tonight .

Hey lads, First time post and nice topic too!!

I had the "all WHITEs POWER" sign, and it was well worth it!!!  At the Greenman pub beforehand, there were a few hushed tones and the odd "nice sign" and a couple of laughs, during the game I went over to the Bahrain red zone and got a few photos before being told to move on by security.  I explained to them that I was colourblind and dsylexic and my seat number was 9/11, she didn't find it funny.  After the game, I believe I was in 50-60 photos' as everyone wanted a slice of the action.  My mate is taking the sign to SA next year as well, although I was thinking of putting it on Trade Me!

I rate that as the best sporting event I have ever been to and I have been to every 7's since it started, all but one rugby test in Wellington since 87RWC, and a million canes/lions games, 1 dayers etc, but they don't compare to Saturday night!!!  I'll never forget it.

Final note:  I am NZ maori, proud of it and thats why I probably got away with it.

Go the All Whites, The Nix and every other New Zealand team!!!

Haha, nice one mate. Go the irony :)

My banner got attacked on Willis Street by some drunk dickwad who thought I was supporting Bahrain (not that there would be anything wrong with that anyway!!) and failed to read what it actually said, or the fact that our whole group was wearing All White shirts and that I had a "fern" tattooed on my cheek.

Thankfully the only idiot on the night. Oh actually there was one more that couldn't read/was colour blind.

I think if it read "white is right" - (an idea a friend of mine had) THAT is in poor taste but yours was so obviously a piss take....

taking it to SA....mmm not too sure that'll work though i mean there are a lot of sour racist moments in sa history...

did anyone get any photos of my "KARORIORI ULTRAS AISLE 2"     banner?? it was in the dom post sport section on monday in the background of the "final whistle" .. you can read clearly karori ltra isle ahaha
