Extra Seating?

Ok, I am well and truly f**king gutted right about now.

Have been waiting for my Dad to find out confirmation for the date of an operation before booking tickets because obviously if it clashes he can't come but we wanted to sit together. Now I know he can make it but tried to book the tickets and only single seats are available - disaster of epic proportions.

I'm hoping to god that they use these fabled extra seats to up the allocation for my own sakes but also because it'd be immense to sell it out twice.

I was wondering if anyone knows how likely it is that this will happen, and if so, when a decision might be made? I'm gonna be checking every site I know of frantically until I hear news of this because I'm desperate to see the game with my Dad and brother.

PLEASE PLEASE NZF or whoever makes the decision, use the extra allocation.

Heard they won't do it because it costs $25 per seat. My friend got some this morning however and that was for a group...

Slim chance, but we'll be lobbying hard for it on your behalves.  We even had a meeting (read: lunch at a pub) today to discuss it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

How did the meeting go? What sort of vibe was laid down? What was for lunch?

no massive rush. just when you get a chance. good to get a sense of whether the kiwi diaspora is getting into it. It would be brilliant to be a kiwi in london during a world cup we're at!

Have commented there, waiting for it to be moderated.

Hopefully there's a big public push for the extra seats. Huge effort to sell it out so quickly though, I never thought the tickets would go so fast. It's great to see, I just wish I hadn't missed out.

Still, while there's a slim chance, I retain hope.

Do the right thing NZF...

I dont sympathise too much to those that didnt get tickets- and that includes my parents (who rang in a panic this evening only to be told its not my problem). They should have got them earlier - and if they didn't then the (more) real fans have got in ahead of them (with exceptions)

I must admit to a certain amount of smugness having got tickets early, but the speed at which the RoF has sold out is pretty astounding.

While earlier comments suggest that extra seating will be problematical (cost and security), if it is possible to have more it would be great to get as many in - it all helps the atmosphere and hopefully gets a few more converts.

40,000 footy fans packed into the ring of fire would generate an electric atmosphere and "unleashing" those extra seats may just make all the difference.

NZF, please let common sense prevail.

A number of us tried to do this in relation to the Wales game with the help of the Beige Brigade but this came to naught.

I can understand their reticence, they've been burnt in the past financially so this will be a decent pay day and probably won't want to jeapordise it

What they should do is announce it's sold out - let everyone stew on it for 2-3 days and create some demand and then announce more seats.  They will sell like hot cakes

Negative comment/attitude Feverish mate.

How do you expect to convert egg chasers with an attitude like that, the more the better esp the partizan supporters, hopefully to tuning them in to Football/AWs/Phoenix fans?

Are you suggesting we move the game to San Siro or something?  I am all for the extra seats, and believe they will do it, but if someone has to miss out it should be those that sat on theirs arses.

I don't think people who go tin earlier are necessarily bigger fans, but ultimately those who left it to the last minute were a bit silly

Well actually, I would say those of us who got in early are bigger fans than those who waited for the result of the first leg.

That's just my opinion though, call me crazy.

Edit: I should stress that I am not trying to vilify the thread author here, you are clearly the exception to the rule due to some horrible circumstances and I wish you all the best.joachim2009-10-17 08:49:02

I'm with disco mart on this. yes, people should have been in earlier if they wanted tickets, but if we are serious about raising the football profile in this country, we need to generate as much exposure as possible. an extra 4000 people at a football match (who wouldn't usually have anything to do with football) would be a great result. imagine an all whites game having sold as much tickets as an all blacks game, but more atmosphere. brilliant

I'm in favour of the extra seats, just saying those who got in early in the most part are the bigger fans

There's virtually no financial risk though. The extra 4,000 seats will cost about $100,000 to put in but only 2,500 need to sell to cover that cost. The other 1,500 are just cream.

I agree they should let people sweat though, make an announcement in a week or so.

Unlucky for people who didn't get tickets. But it is pretty last minute. I do think that they will get the extra seats, even if its only a couple thousand.

Why not just sell them for more. make it 49-59 bucks a ticket, i mean you are closer to the action, and if people are desperate to go they will pay.

(I don't think there has ever been a a topic this awesome, on the site. People asking for more seats, to a 'soccer' game in New Zealand because it has sold out. Oh wonderful)

Everyones had ages to buy tickets and lets be fair if you really wanted to go, you would have bought the tickets before the 1st game. I don't really mind about the extra seats if they do it good on them if they don't I won't in anyway care.
