How are we voting on the suspension of Qatar?

Get the popcorn ready. Might be fun over the next 48 hours to see what stuff the bigwigs in Oceania and Asia have to say about little old NZ.

Remembering these bigwigs hold the future of our club in their greasy, clammy, stinking hands.

Is there a half time show? J-Lo? now she's the beautiful game

Very happy to see NZF voting against Blatter. It isn't going to make one bit of difference though, sadly.

The vote probably won't even need to go to the second round, given Blatter's support base.

In his closing speech to delegates, his third of the day in comparison to the 15 minutes his rival was afforded, the Swiss returned to familiar themes. “What football needs right now is a strong leader, an experienced leader, a leader who knows all the ins and outs of the situation,” he said. Just as he did four years ago, when he promised a “roadmap of reform”, he called on the 209 members to trust him, promised to “fix Fifa” starting tomorrow and made light of his age and the 17 years he has been at the top.

So he knows all the ins and outs of the  situation now? I thought two days ago he was saying he had no idea that all this corruption had taken place on his watch?

The emperor's new clothes sure are fine!

good on NZ football  for voting on principle. Those however who don't think there will be consequences are somewhat naive however. You don't run a great corrupt organisation for many years without dealing with your enemies and the good guys

Apparently Sepp said something about World Cup qualifying and "balancing"..... Mentioned Oceania. People are saying maybe Oceania will get direct entry to WC?

Just heard this on the news.

I will say it again, Sepp Blatter is the best football administrator that money can buy, after all, he personally investigated Fifa andand himsand himself and found there to be no signs of corruption.

No doubt any chance of direct qualification for Oceania is gone while Blatter remains and NZ dominate in the Confederation.  What are people's thoughts on that? Morality vs Reality.

I have a clear concience with my views on Blatter and his alleged paid off cronies. We know what they are and you cant change that.

Devil's advocate here: Surely the expectation of our leaders is that they do what is best for NZ football. To vote against the all powerful  and corrupt leader when it is not absolutely clear he is about to be ousted is a folly. He will now make our life a misery and we will not get anything we want. We have also put ourselves even more offside with our fellow OFC members and can expect to be playing all of our world cup playoff games on a goat track in the Papua highlands for the conceivable future. They should of voted for what is best for NZ football int he full knowledge that FIFA is a corrupt organisation and you have to dance to their tune if you want to receive any favours. The time to vote against the leader would of been when he was indicted, not when he was just going through another rough day at the office for him.

What will you all think when we get no changes to our qualification process at all? if we are lucky enough to top Oceania after the qualifiying tournament in the back of tropical nowhere, with the corrupt referee and linesmen, the dystentry, bumpy beds and wildlife roaming the corridors - then have to play the 4th qualifier from South America.....

If NZ had voted Blatter, there would have been equal noise saying how could NZF vote for corruption.

There are 2 realities - you don't get high up in FIFA unless you have been exposed to this a some point so I question if Prince Ali is any cleaner than Blatter and NZF were fudgeed which way they jumped. As someone else said, walk out with your principles intact knowing you are going to the dog box or get into bed with the villainy and show everyone your position on morality.

It's great the all knowing chiming in after that fact about what NZF shoulda coulda done but the truth is, they were fudgeed either way and those same folk would have bashed them for voting Blatter and an easier path etc. Blatter alone does not decide OFCs WC path so it's a bit ignorant to think he alone put the sword to our throat - the other confeds would never have surrendered any spot to a confederation they would have thought was less deserving than them. This was at best, 10% chance of happening.

I respect their stance and give them no stick whatsoever regardless how it hurts us and our confederation after the fact.

I'm pretty sure that years ago OFC was promised direct entry to the World Cup by Blatter as part of his campaigning and he never delivered. Let's face it, the financial input into Oceania football is more than enough to buy the loyalty of OFC. And I don't even think that the rest of OFC are that fussed about direct entry to the WC because they know that 9 times out of 10 it would be NZ qualifying. There's no reason to take half a spot off another confederation to effectively buy one country's vote, which is what people are suggesting could have happened if we voted for him.

reality is based on performance, OFC is doing well to get a half spot

Yeah but as someone else mentioned, not all the best teams in Europe are at WCs so from that, why can't an extra half spot be found for OFC, deserved or not.....
