From what i can determine, we will get "Partial Live Coverage" of the Oly-Whites v Brazil tonight on TV1, and that is it. Nothing on Freeview or via internet feed (whereas the Belgium game will have partial live coverage on TV1 and be screened in full via internet feed). Its only Brazil i suppose. Somebody's judgment is non-existent.

So, get ready for advertising breaks and regular switches to catch up with the "action at the pool."

Atleast that is something, i get nothing i can't download live coverage or even radio coverage because of the  restriction on us overseas kiwis.

I get the olympics here in Dubai on 3 channels, all showing the same thing at the same time and in arabic!

I'd take a few ad greatfully. Still if i was in NZ i'd be saying that that is absolute dogs balls. Go the Oly boys.

Why would they show full belgium game on internet and not full brazil game. Grrrr!

Edit: 23:45:01:45  Football: Men's Prelims ITA v KOR <----on live internet feed tonight, but only partial coverage of brazil on the tv? This doesnt seem right...

possibly bc, when they decide a football match is of interest and therefore of commercial value (e.g. Brazil), they decide to milk the heck out of by not allowing us to bypass the advertising and watch it via the net.

But, given tvnz's track record when it comes to football, any explanation and no explanation is just as possible

But if its showing on tv one or freeview, you can watch these on the net and bypass the ads anyway..sort of(it just comes up with a screen saying "on an ad break" whenever ads are on).

Its really bad theyre only showing partial coverage, when they have essentially 3 other channels they can stream it live on. Guess if its on tv one more people can see it...but i suspect TVNZ dont care about this.. Am hoping its the same as last nights game, where they only cut to other things at halftime...but am not getting my hopes up now

Last nights coverage was excellent all things considered. Only gripe was the ad breaks every 15 mins.

Three for me, and two for them.

This might be a time when the coverage of NZ sport is actually going to be better in Australia! Apparently SBS is showing the whole NZ game on Aussie TV... although it follows the women's olympic road race and I'm sure the match will be cut short if the race doesn't finish at its scheduled time.

Is the mens game not being televised on Freeview???

It's an absolute disgrace that NZ viewers wont get to see full live TV coverage. As jamesnz mentioned Australian viewers will actually see the whole thing during primetime on SBS without ads. With expert comments from Craig Foster....

If you want to complain to someone in person at TVNZ try this guy.

He answers very quickly even if his answers arent what you want to hear.

check out the tvnz message boards - full of people complaining about the poor coverage of their sport.

this, for me takes the cake however - deciding to show full live coverage of korea v italy instead of nz v brazil.

i'm stunned.

Absolutely

Either TVNZ is completely incompetent or it is deliberately witholding the Brazil coverage from the internet channels to drive us towards their advertising on TV1

But you can watch anything thats on tv one,on the internet through the live stream anyway, and bypass the advertising (there will just be random gaps in the coverage where the ads are on tv)

in the interest of my 'continued' mental health and blood pressure , i won't
get involved in this one

except to say "Tv 1 are doing a very poor job of pretending to be a credible state broadcaster"

of your two options ML, i favour the view that they are operating cynically rather incompetently

whether that cynicism is driven by purely commercial motives or something more perverse in their attitude towards football, i couldn't possibly comment

They're mentioning it reguarly as part of tonight's coverage....so let's hope we see the vast majority of it at least.

The only 'NZ' clash with the football is the end of the women's road race, from what I can gather.

We shall see...
