A week ago I kept hearing that this was the typical Auckland sports fan.

New Zealand is geographically close to Auckland so you would expect some similarities.

I do hope there's a good crowd at the RoF tonight, but a nasty little part of me also hopes that some people who talk about how Wellington (and Christchurch!!!) sports fans are far, far superior to the apathetic losers in Len Brown's Town get to choke on their words, just a little.

Thats OK Doloras. We would not expect anything less from those who live above the bombay hills. The only way to make you feel good is to put others down. And when that doesnt work, to see them fall from grace.  We are who we are and seeing white noise at any venue creating an atmosphere that exceeds anything other codes can bring is always great.

What is the PAX up to?

Not sure what I enjoy more, baiting or sport.  Hang on, baiting is sport.  Problem solved.

Very Pumped for this game. Even if there is only 15k there, the noise zone will be full, we can still make a hell of a noise

I couldn't see many fans in Auckland too be honest. The only people standing were the White Fever

10k walk up. CBD afterwork, no excuses. Promotional material should blitz the streets. Not sure thats the case.

Thats ok,we'll subtract 5k of that 18k Auckland got as out of towners due to it being a saturday if you want to be like that.

Thats a pretty bad attitude to have. I couldnt give a sh*t who got more, but I do want us to get more as it would be awesome to see 20k+ at an AWs game.

I want there to be a huge, sell-out crowd today as well. I also want the "Auckland doesn't deserve football" crowd to shut up, or at least not cry for mummy when their confident predictions about how much Auckland sucks compared to Wellington get disproven. Hopefully we can have both.Doloras2010-10-12 14:18:00

Unfortunately you can't. If it gets 20k+ itd be pretty clear that support is better in Wellington in Auckland. If it gets less, theyll claim its a tuesday night game (quite rightly to be honest).

Just as long as you realise, that there are those in Auckland who are just as bad when it comes to doing the same thing in Auckland,in fact a lot of the people who do the Auckland sucks thing wouldnt exist if it werent for those people in Auckland.

too much? haha how much does a sh*tty All Blacks game vs Tonga etc cost?

I'm sure I've paid around $30 in the past to see the ABs play Tonga at NHS. And the cheapest adults tickets for next year's World Cup are around $55, and that's some rubbish minnow versus some country the average punter cannot locate on a map.

Get your arses to the football, Wellington!

"About 2000 more tickets have been sold for the All Whites clash with Paraguay in Wellington tonight taking total sales up to 16,000."
Football New Zealand chief executive Michael Glading said Wellington's reputation as football central was under threat after 18,100 people attended the All Whites 1-1 draw with Honduras in Auckland on Saturday night.

If Gladding is really saying this then what a douche. Apart from how dull the 18k crowd was on Saturday this guy on the Dom website says it best:

This is hardly a surprise though is it? It's Saturday night at the end of the school holidays in Auckland (pop. 1.4m) versus Tuesday night after a working/school day in Wellington (pop. 390k) - of course there's going to be fewer there

We should get up to or close to 18k which is pretty decent on a tuesday tbf.
Permalink Permalink

If Glading was going to take that angle wish NZF had done it right from the beginning. Got a bit of advertising out there with the whole Auckland vs Wellington angle, would have helped sales I reckon.

Anyways...still hoping for 18k. if we cracked 20 would be very chuffed.

Calm down, clearly all he is trying to do is stir up Wellingtonians (which it appears to have) to encourage them to go to the game. I hope it works!

16477. Which is the equivalent of 65093 proportionate to Auckland's population. So we win
