Keep in mind it's on a Tuesday and there's a fair chance they will.

At the SFS last night Australia got a crowd of just over 25,000 to watch Paraguay. Aussie had Kewell, Cahill, and Schwarzer - so a solid team.  Maybe expecting 25,000 in Wgtn on a Tuesday night is a bit unrealistic.

25,000 for Aus v Paraguay is a very disappointing crowd for a Saturday. Considering it is a Tuesday I'd be happy with around 20,000.

18150 ish on a saturday is a good crowd, if the Paraguay game was on a saturday you could compare them fairly, however I think welly will beat this figure...so there will be no noise coming from the Auck camp...

Weather supposed to be okay, well good actually.
So I'm not sure what our normal walk up crowd is but fingers crossed it's a good one tomorrow night. If we lose the PAX battle to AKL I will be disappointed to say the least.

We will need to form a knitting circle and complain about how Akld is stealing our support base.

Just because you're jealous of our honest Kiwis going to coalface football games at NHS.

My number based on the fact that overall the games would have averaged 20 000 each so NZF would have broken even.  That's all assuming my maths was right which is highly questionable.

Just spoke to a couple of friends who didnt go to the game. they were still away with their kids on school holidays. I wonder how many missed the game because of this?. Unfortunate timing of the FIFA window.
To be honest if Welly get over 18,000 that will be a fantastic result. Its a Tuesday night, the weather might be a bit rough.
Part of the Bahrain crowd last year were people from Hamilton and North and given that many of those people will have been to the Honduras game i doubt many will be heading to Welly as well.
So Im expecting/hoping to see close to the Auckland numbers. Anything more will be brilliant.
The last time i saw a crowd like the one in AUckland watching an All Whites game was way back in 1997 when we played Aussie in a world cup qualifier.
I think Welly will get a bigger crowd than we did in Auckland but expecting a sell out is asking too much.

That could buy a few chit chats I dare say.

If you do get funding for the BBQ maybe the next meeting should be in Timaru?

if today's weather continues i reckon there'll be 25-40 Paraguayans who will have a severe lack of interest in turning up

I'd take 3-4 k less walk up if the weather meant P'guy did a Bahraini freeze out and we got the win

twas at that said game, Aussie 3-0 winners. The Aussies had that 'epic' tie with Iran later and lost on away goals...

Was just out getting myself a coffee in central Wellington, and its not as if people don't know about the game - everyone (7 or so people) at the coffee stop was talking about it (as opposed to the weather or the commonwealth games) but the typical response to the "are you going?" question was either:

* It costs too much ($39... really?) or
* Its only a friendly, means nothing, who cares etc...

So there you have it, the typical NZ sports fan...
