Went to school with Alex Palezevich. I think he was in the first team in his first year of college. I always really rated him.
Or maybe, the best players have been selected and this a bit of a one off in terms of players missing out.
If you can name players who should have made and the expense of those left out, then by all means go ahead so the merits of those names can be argued.
Patterson has pretty big raps on him from his successful trial at Ipswich. Although in the game I saw him play for NZA agains Jordan he looked average. That been said he literally was a boy playing against men then so it might be a little unfair to judge him too harshly.
The Knights brought nothing to NZ football, except for maybe two of our better coaches.
Looking forward to seeing what Beazley can do with this group.

My understanding is that he did trial for the squad but this U17 group is particularly strong - possibly one of best we have sent to a WC.

Yeah isn't Liam Jordan a 1998 or even 1999? This team is 1996s.
Think he's a 1998. That year is at NZF NTC in Auckland this week. (98 & 99 are grouped for 2015 WC).
I think there are some lads that could consider themselves a bit lucky to be there after seeing them in action at the secondary schools nationals where they were shown up. I think there are some South Island lads that are at least as good as the ones selected, certainly based on the Otago milk cup team this year. To me the standouts are obviously Rufer, Riddenton and Neblet from Birko. There is at least one lad in the squad that going to get a look in at the Nix when they return from UAE.

Azza I can't comment on players selected but in terms of process I bet you anything you like those South Island Milk Cup boys have never been looked at by national (Auckland) coaches. Maybe it will take a mainlander (mike mcgarry?) putting his hand up to coach a national team to give South Island kids a fair opportunity. Problem doesn't seem to exist in the equivalent girls groups.

It's the perennial problem of geography and cost.
Are there other players from the South Island that should be part of the squad - almost certainly, but Auckland and Wellington are always going to make-up the lion's share of the squad and that's simply a matter of geographic convenience and cost (both for NZF, the Federations and the parents).
No conspiracy, just basic economics.

Tamu is still a student at APFA who have all fully supported him in his move and stay in Auckland.
Tamu has been at APFA for three years, APFA don't get a mention as they are a private provider.
