mexico v nigeria in the final
All Whites, Ferns, and other international teams
New Zealand Men's U-17s
Nigeria were the best side from the start. I read that some EPL sides are already looking at some of these players.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Three for me, and two for them.
The difference between our lads and then the majority of those in other sides is ours will aspire to play in the a-league one day, and most of them never will. Where as a lot of these other kids would probably only join the a-league as a last resort at the end of their long professional careers.

They are in their prime tbf.
I'm not surprised. They made Mexico look like also-rans. You see the Mexican kid defender crying at end of game.
Come on you All Whites!
"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...
I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...
Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

He wouldve been gutted. scored the opening goal in a 3-0 defeat ...

How is this different to what already exists? Still be kids of the same ages competing against each other; ie 2014 U16 OFC is same age bracket (1998-1999) as 2015 U17 World Cup etc

Its not a demeaning comment. Its his opinion and I suspect for a few of them, he would be right.
Probably has zero natural ability.

The OFC qualifying tournaments will be a year before the FIFA Finals, not three months as currently. Hence the players selected will be younger and have a year from Oceania qualifying until the FIFA Finals. Much more time together, time to play friendlies and scout new players for the FIFA Finals, enter a team in your national league (as NZF are doing with the Wanderers) etc.
e.g. our u-20's only had three months between playing their qualifying tournie 21-29 March this year and the FIFA Finals in Turkey 21 June- 13 July. And they played no friendlies in that three months until a couple of weeks before the Finals. So, our u-20's were only together for say four weeks in total during qualifying and the Finals (including maybe a week together before each event) which isn't sufficient to really develop players.
Heard from an excellent source (personally involved with players who were not from Auckland) that the 2013 U17 boys who went to live in Auckland were subjected to an absolute shambles of organisation, communication, and piss-poor all round training/school/life experience. Would have been far better to continue training in their existing environments.
So if OFC Qualifying is being played one year prior to 2015 U17 World Cup (Chile) the boys national squad will need to be selected pretty quick smart as the OFC Qualifying would be next year, 2014. Anyone reckon NZF is on top of this?

So who's coaching Wanderers Yoof this year? A temp?

Bazeley has U20 2015? Therefore new coach for U17 2015?
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Won't the U17 Wanderes Youth team actually be the balance of the "U20" squad? The lads not playing in the ASBP but still part of the wider training squad playing in the Youth league?
Correct Optimist. Wanderers 2 teams will all be 1997 or older, ie ineligible for 2015 U17 World Cup (98/99). Be interesting to see who puts their hand up for U17 job. Reckon a bit of fresh blood could be on its way in to national youth set up?

hasn't Chris picked up the St Kent's job - might not be able to do both?
McGarry or Zoro would as good too. I guess it shows they are not really short on options.

Chris Greenacre.
Assisted by an injured Paul Ifill.
Dreams are free.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Wow, there were some very, very young boys playing for Wanderers Youth team yesterday. About 4 or 5 that I could recognise from playing other games for the U20's squad, then a load of really young kids.
ACFC Youth went through them like a dose of salts.
Man Chris Z's teams play attractive football!!

Hey Optimist, where are Wanderers Youth drawing players from? Auckland FTC? NTC? WYNRS? Schools?

The younger lads that i saw 2/3 and recongnised were NFF FTC boys 98's so potential next u17 players.
Right, NFF FTC team at nationals looked to be a good team. Mainland won the tournament so expect a few of them will be there too. Mainland excluded any 98s from trialling for Canterbury Youth.

you would hope the coach would be in place soon with qualifiers coming up in a few months time.
