Ya can’t beat Wellington on Good day

loved this morning. It was Great to see a NZ side play with style but to also maintain it for the 90 minutes. 5-0 is a hiding but it could have been more.

Our top 4 looked class today. Their passing, movement aND interplay was  of the highest order.

I thought Stensess and Bell were both  class in the middle today and our two CBs looked like they knew how to play.

A very good all round performance. Cacace so unflappable, as usual, Just, Singh, Waine great combinations. Well done coaches for getting them gelling together so well.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Anyone know where I can watch a replay of the game online?

fifa.com normally put up something... might only be highlights though. So basically just clips of NZ!

Just so wonderful to see this standard of football from a New Zealand side

Des, you legend

Can someone please tell Des and the boys that we don't have the technical ability to play like that at this level and risk getting beaten 8-0.  We need less passing and more Chip-and-STAR.

*Thank God that idiot is gone, no way Declan would have let any of his players play in that sort of system.

Very positive football played with confidence, composure and some flair, real good start to the tournament.

If they continue to play like this, non of them are coming back to play for us. Singh will be the first, Cacae the 2nd to get poached from the nix. Joe Bell was massive.

Joe Bell seemed very similar to Rufer to me. He played well; not under much pressure, of course.

Great, great peformance. Glad I stayed up for it, because I can't see anywhere you can watch a full replay.

Going from the Uruguay v Norway highlights, we'll have a decent contest against both.

What a great result. I know there is a lot of talent in this team and many reasons why it's doing so well, but it's another reminder of just how important the Nix has been to the development of football in NZ.

Get in!!!! 1-0, 8 minutes gone. All New Zealand so far, the team’s unrecognisable in the best possible way. Squint and you’d think we’re Barca

What a performance that was, I honestly can't recall the last time I saw a NZ football side at any level look so slick. Passing was on point, build up was well executed and the intensity to win the ball back in the defensive and middle thirds of the pitch was massive.

I hope this is a showcase to the world of what our younger generation can offer, because having watched the start of this U20 World Cup, our lads are right up there in terms of skill, composure and temperament on and off the ball. I know it's early days in the campaign, but I am genuinely excited about what we have to offer, rather than the stock standard hit and hope, negative style of play. Like others have said earlier in the thread, it was a pleasure to stay up and watch this live because it was a treat to watch. For those that missed the Honduras game, make sure you get up and watch the Norway and Uruguay matches because they promise to be enticing & entertaining encounters.

I’m a little nervous about getting too carried away at this point but fudge that was great....

The Nix ; Ole; and US College system can take a bow. Giving players National and provincial prem league starts has helped with confidence. Being together for a month also another tick. Good Luck for Norway. They should go all out. A win means two more games minimum. And then rest players for Uruguay.

Agreed. I'm hoping it's not a one off performance and then we lose the next two games.

Dominating the match, had the best chances for sure. Cacace with an insane run beating 4 or 5 defenders before his shot is very well saved, best chance of the game. Singh a standout too, defense doing very well

Two games now against teams we would normally be considered the lesser where we have been the better team with the better quality of players.

Top of the table, nice one

JKust got a stream in time for the goal! Woohoo! Very mature play eh! Calm and patient in a tight one with the majority of chances - always a good sign for goinmg further....

There's Norway that keeper was ever going to save that rocket from Stensness.

And most of those players are not the product of NZF's coaching system - kudos to Olé, Wynrs, and Phoenix academies.

Well thats the trendy position, its not at all politically correct to acknowledge NZF's part in this because sometimes the NZF admin flaws get confused with the direction of the type of coaching it undertook with the WoF plan. Methods, philosophies and processes which have filtered through all levels of coaching via courses, coach interactions and osmosis.

These players are a product of NZF, Ole, Wynrs, Phoenix, Federation and a long list on unknown and unheralded coaches around the country. Products of a decent number of small cogs in a bigger wheel.

People need to clearly differentiate between the admin problems of recent years and the work of the technical staff in coaching courses, resources and material being pushed.

If these players are not partly a result of NZF then I guess Buckingham has had no influence at all using your logic.

Its always so easy and lazy to simply bash NZF (and yes they do have their serious flaws.)
