I'll go where the crowd goes I guess. I expect noise, not just people sitting and sipping away.

Fox & Ferrit in Riccarton sounds good to me.  Hopefully there'll be a fair crowd there.

holy grail in town could be another option, saw on the news today that it was packed for the south korea game and it looked very rowdy for ya timmy!

Need a core of people together to start chants etc. like what happens at Nix/AW games. It'll take some people a bit to get them into it so if it sounds poor to start with no one will catch on... i.e. a typical canterbury crowd.

your call (obviously)

but if the Holy Grail hasn't got behind the AW's by being an 'official' AW's supporters' pub (whatever that actually means) would you want to go there ahead of one that is noted as being behind the All Whites ??

(I'll butt out now)

It has some monster Rugby links as well, official bar of Canterbury Rugby and doesn't exactly have a record of encouraging football.

How's my driving? - Whine here

To their credit they show Nix games on the massive screen. Personally though I don't like the Grail.

the official bar in hamilton is the zone sports bar - the blandest bar in town

still, anyone in hamilton heading out to watch it?

I was planning to go to Winniebagos Ferrymead as it's just 5 mins walk from my house, and the manager there likes his football - have had some good chats with him about the AWs. And if we get a result against Slovakia it's an easy stagger back to my house for post-match celebrations!

But there'll be more people in the F&F I expect. Winnies isn't big enough to get a big crowd. Had about 50 people there for the Aussie game.

Saw some posters up at Christchurch Casino announcing it as an official All Whites viewing venue - and that they will have prizes of signed AWs gear on offer. Might be worth a look...
They are dedicating an entire bar to screening all three AWs games on a big screen.

Looks like I'm going to either the Grail or Bard-on-Avon (being dragged there).  Expect a fair few to show up at the various bars round the city.

The Bard on Avon is showing every wc game live.
Was packed on Sunday morning for the Eng V USA game - they had to stop letting people in so if you want atmosphere that would be the place to be (besides being in at the game that is)

For complete randomness and in case someone else is looking for company, I'm going to Soi 8 in Sukumvit Soi 8, Bangkok for tonight's game (Slovakia). NZ owned sports bar, usually full for the rugby, hopefully there'll be a few there cheering the AWs on as well.

"once a w*nker, always a w*nker"

disappointing that you'll get numpties going to pub football games with rugby attitudes and throwing their weight around looking for a scuffle, like I found at foxs last night. I would hope that a game like last night would unite New Zealand.

he wasn't too impressed with our w*nker chant.

Must have been standing right next to you, love it how ihe gave it the large, giving the fingers etc after the chant started then sheepishly walks past a couple of times after. Sad Capain Kraut2010-06-16 13:32:34

zone bar in hamilton was an interesting crowd

one girl with a knights shirt sitting with a group of indian guys started cheering rather loudly for the slovakian goal, much to the displeasure of everyone else, then the same table cheered for our goal. strange.

at the final whistle i heard some guy asking if it now went to extra time.

still, was an ok crowd so not complaining

Was at the Grail and the place absolutely exploded when we scored.  Non-stop yelling, screaming, hugging and who knows what else by a few hundred people for the next 5-10 minutes.

I hear the Bard on Avon is better.  That true?  Also, are there seats?  I'm a fan of standing at football games, but at 2am I don't know if I can be arsed.

What was the deal with that guy at Foxs? Was in the back room near the pool tables watchin the big screen in there so all I saw was some clown hamming it up and flipping the bird and looking like a total twat.
Great atmosphere though and when that goal went in it went off. Took me like 3 minutes to work out who had actually scored!

He tended to somehow pick the biggest guys there to stop from going to the toilet. About 5 times he got asked if he wanted to take it outside lol.
