Called the stadium, lady said that yes the Bahrainians are allowed to bring in instruments.  I said but it's in the rules that patrons can't bring them in.  She then put me on hold (very grumpily) and another dude came on and said NZF had said it was ok for the stadium to allow the instruments as it's their event blah blah blah. They can bring in little drums (that must fit under their seat).    But he also said during the game if enough people complained about the noise they would be told not to play them.    He also said we could bring in drums if we wanted.

I still think it blows!  <<

It might only make a small difference but what the f**k is NZF doing??

Idioitic!, Naive!

If we go out we could never prove that it was this particular lack of nous that screwed us but I do wonder what they were thinking !

>>

I say complain now! I really don't want to miss the match complaining about their drummers f**king up our home match!

>> He also said we could bring in drums if we wanted.<<  what  a recipe for chaos - "you don't know what you're doing"

we don't want a drumming comp against their paid drummers   they had that advantage over there

we want to sing them into despair -  and NZF has decreased our chance so doing so

corner last minute they hear their heart-warming HOME drum sound and get a lift

small things make a difference - but clearly not to NZF

Megaphone counts as an instrument.

NZF allows atmosphere in the stadium - is that such a crime?

NZF allows Bahrain to create more noise than NZ fans? Home advantage is only slight, I was hoping they'd use it to a maximum.

This is pretty average

Excuse my naivity, but come someone clarify for me: Are instruments of any kind usually banned from the stadium?

if 800 people can make more noise than the other 34500 then good on them.  Don't be so anal.  Let them support their team, we should still drown them out.

Yeah Gourdie, Stadium rules say 'Musical instruments' on the list of banned items.

Also to add further confusion, people who don't read here, and just read the Dom Post, will assume it, because thy ran the fact you cannot take Instruments into the stadium in the paper this morning.

Paid drummers? have you ever been to a phoenix game when the had the brazilian drum group? About 30 of them were bloody loud. You are forgetting that its not 34,500 white noise members. I know of plenty of casual people going to the game who will not know a single chant despite everyone on heres best effort. It's a double standard, I don't know how you can't be a little annoyed.

I can defiantly see where your coming from Darkhorse. But arn't you frustrated that the home fans were only told on the day of the match that something that can significantly (yes significantly) increase home crowed support and advantage can be taken in.

Because at Phoenix games they were always a big no-no.

And that the local newspaper, wher 99% of the fans will get the information from, claims they are not allowed to be brought in.

Bit late when they've published stadium rules online and on the DomPost front page that say 'No Musical Instruments'. Its a good media story whatever happens now. "NZ supporters face instrument ban while Bahrain drums on".

Even if its not technically correct - given Tigers digging up some detail in one long phone call - since when has that ever stopped the media? Plus its hardly public knowledge if it takes that much digging past grumpy phone receptionists to finally guy 'some guy' saying its OK. Who reckons the security would let anyone with an instrument take it in now - you all know how anal they are? I wouldn't risk it.

Its a pity as we could have easily found ways to out-drum them as well, but that path doesn't seem to be very open for a number of reasons. So be prepared to have to hear the Baharaini guys going solid for the entire 90 minutes without a break and they'll sound bigger than the actual numbers playing. I don't mind that as long as we can do the same (X 10000) with voice, drum or whatever.

Hopefully everyone will pick up on at least some basic chants and most of the stadium can follow the easiest ones long enough and loud enough to drown them out at least some of the time.

White Noise Chant Leaders - keep each chant going long enough so the rest of the crowd has a chance to pick them up. They're often too short at the Phoenix games.

Lets give it heaps and help all the other NZ supporters around you who don't know the chants!

I agree with this. Don't let them bring them in, why give them an advantage when we don't need to? It won't add to the atmosphere, if anything it will piss people off. I suppose on the positive side atleast they didn't bring the megaphone.

What ever the rules were about instruments prior to them arriving should stand

Why should the rules be bent just because they bring a band of musicians?  They should have done their research 1st...

We have to respect their stadium rules whilst we were over there, why should now be any different

I'm pretty sure that they will be louder than us now.  If you think otherwise you're probably in for a nasty surprise.  Remember White Noise only numbers about double their 800.

This sucks.

Have they brought 800??

I doubt they'll have 800 drums though

We'll be right! Get the music PUMPED up before kick off, and at half time. If I see any adverts for Wellington Beds and ZM instead of having music blasting before or at half time I will be severely pissed off!!

There will probably be only 10 or so on drums - that can make a seriously big noise for the numbers - but there's the incentive for us I guess. Probably the first ever decent 'away' team presence at the Ring of Fire. Its only gonna fire us up eh! KIA KAHA!

Actually that pumped out of a few thousand voices would be a pretty strong and easy chant unique to us.

KEE-AH KA-HA!    KEE-AH KA-HA!   KEE-AH KA-HA!

It means "Be Strong". It would be appropriate when the lads are having to dig the deepest.

Hopefully we won't ned a staunch chant like that...

Settle down, guys and gals. Bring your mouths and lungs and yell to your hearts content.
35,000 mouths should surely be louder and nioser than 50 drums!!! Fear no drums!

"OK lads, we're playing 3-4-3 tonight. Keep it tight at the back and... oh drat. They're bringing drums. We're stuffed!

Right Leo - you're on kazoo. Smeltzy in the penalty box, strum your ukelele for all your worth. Ryan make sure you get in early with the air horn.

With a bit of luck we might just pull it off."

Am f**king pissed off with this. Surely we want to have as much of a home advantage as possible and NZF may have just negated it.

Fingers crossed enough people make a racket to drown out their bloody drumming.

f**k fair play and f**k atmosphere this is our stadium and our game.

One shot. Come on lads.
