We're the All Whites, and we'll knock off Bahrain,
We'll score goals, goals, goals,
And we'll score some more again...

Don't think it's been posted, but quite liked this on from the hand of God comments  - nice and simple, which is needed in a one off game:

He's big He's bad Hes' better than his dad, Rooorrryyyy Faaalllloooonnnnn

This came to me in the liminal zone between sleep and wake, a thought so lucid it was if Pele himself had leant over and whispered it to me:

The whole stadium doing the Time Warp!

Silly? yes, fun? definitely! and it is relevant on many levels since it is (ostensibly) a kiwi song, itll bamboozle the hell out of the bahrainis, and we are willing the boys to complete a time warp back to the halcion daze of NZ footie. For added impact the last line can be changed to Shane, since Smeltzies' hair do is a time warp in itself:

Lyrics:

It's just a jump to the left And then a step to the right Put your hands on your hips You bring your knees in tight But it's the Pelvic thrust That really drives you insane Let's do the time warp again! Let's do the time warp again! (or Let's do the time warp with Shane)

loving marching off to spain. perhaps if we won we could sing it as a victory song?

"we're the All Whites, and we're marching to S.A
we score goals, goals, goals, and we'll score some more again"

It took me all day but I've friggen nailed one. To the tune of The Ants Go Marching One by One.

All Whites go marching on and on, hurrah, hurrah,
All Whites go marching on and on to Africa,
We want it more, and we've been before,
Smeltzys here and he wants to score,
Were here to cheer the All Whites on South Africa.

That is good, I like it. I'm going to suggest you reverse one line for flow:

All Whites go marching on and on, hurrah, hurrah,
All Whites go marching on and on to Africa,
We've been before, and we want it more,
Smeltzys here and he wants to score,
We're here to cheer the All Whites on to South Africa.

I'm guessing the 'to' I added was just something you missed due to a typo?

My theory is....  you needed to be drunk and so did we, Salmon07 for your suggestion to land well.

I'm basing this purely on the (apparent) success of  "Home and Away"   renditions, from a few of the travelling YF fans.
Random, weird yes...but strangely ok ...when you've been drinking

For the record, the winner of Hand of God's All Whites football chant competition was Thomas Rewi of Queenstown for ...

"He's big
He's bad
He's better than his Dad

Thomas is only 12. Magnificent.

Can you work anything mildly related to the sport or event into the lyrics?

Good one Thomas and nice gesture on your part ML to kit him up with a YF T-shirt. Get 'em while they're young and they'll be hooked for life!

Sorry if this been posted before but how about a take on Gene Kelly's song, Singing in the Rain??

Ive done the first few lines, but thats all I can come up with

On a sader note for myself I wont be at the game, but my heart will be.

Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo...

Oh we're beating bahrain
Just beating Bahrian
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
Smeltz is in my heart
And I'm ready for love??
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin',
Singin' in the rain

Dancin' in the rain
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
I'm happy again!
I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain!

I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain...
[ADDITIONAL VERSE]
Why am I smiling
And why do I sing?
Why does September
Seem sunny as spring?
Why do I get up
Each morning and start?
Happy and head up
With joy in my heart
Why is each new task
A trifle to do?
Because I am living
A life full of you.

That's a great song to play on the speakers, but not easy to sing along to.

Wish they had a few more chant-friendly songs, being from Wellington it would be great.

I fancy some Phoenix Foundation

What difference does it make where they are from? The game is in Wellington but the nation is watching/singing. Stand Up (?) from The Feelers is a great song, and quite fitting, so maybe all the people from CHCH attending the game should sing that? Chants for White Noise are only a new thing so lets keep it simple until we get some momentum behind it.

I was probably posting subconsciously from a Phoenix viewpoint.

The Feelers - NO!

I reckon we should keep the chants short and simple - it will make it easier for the others to join in...

Definitely get the clap clap clap all whites going. Gets the whole stadium going, especially when people hit the back metal bit. Imagine 35,000 getting that going they'll be able to hear it in town!

A regular Nix attendee asked me if there will be song sheets handed out?

Any idea? Would be a good idea for the uninitiated.

P.S. Put the Maori words of the national anthem on it too ;)

Do you know what would work 50-100x better than songsheets?
Someone (even Miles Davis if it has to be) getting on the PA 30mins before kick-off and raaking the crowd up with a few chants.
Half the people at the stadium may be a bit nervous about chanting, but a bit of practise and an intro will surely get them in the swing of things.

Can we have Miles on the PA for 70 minutes of the game like the guy in Manama?

so much no.

This is about the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen on a football pitch, and that includes Delia's "where are ya?" drunken yelling, and Hard News trying chase a winger.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite

well we all speak english (i hope) and the tunes for chants are pretty easy to follow. However, i think the tried and true phoenix chants should be adapted, a few examples (as above) ricky herbert's black and white army!!! or "who are ya" - this falls perfectly on an arab swear word too "sharmouta!!" (i dont know how many people would be down for that one but its bound to get under the bahrainians skin) or "same old Aus-ies (again this fits to A-rabs) always cheating" or "we're playing al the football" i mean if a the solid 3,000 in the WN zone start those up many will follow, i think I learnt the bulk of the nix chants in about the first 10 minutes of the first preseason match vs sydney (i think we won that 3-0 too)

The fact is that you're not going to get the whole crowd involved in all but the most simple of chants (probably involving a succession of clapping and either All Whites or New Zealand) so just focus on those in and around the White Noise Zone making as much noise as possible

I hope this is not entirely the case, it would be nice to get say 10,000 chanting but your right im probably dreaming, but there is really no excuse for not learning them after a few times hearing them they are very very easy

We only get one shot at this (did you see what I did there?)

It's not like Nix games where you can build a culture up over time.

Therefore we should do everything possible to get the crowd singing.
