Scott McDonald starts for Celtic  week in week out scores heaps of goals. Plays for Australia v Bahrain can't score to save himself.
Chris Killen can't make the starting side for Celtic.
Plays for the All Whites v Italy(world champions) scores 2 goals.
Funny old game.
Very proud of the All Whites well done.

Stuck in Prague now so missed the game.  Have just watched the youtube highlights.  WOW.... We seam to play better in black, from memory our best result at the other two confeds cups cam when we wore that colour.

I'm all for going back to black, but our best results at a Confed Cup were the losses in '99 (2-1 vs USA, 2-0 vs Germany, 2-0 vs Brazil) where they played in the all white strip. They played in black twice at the French tournament and lost 3-1 to Columbia and 5-0 to France.

Yeah you're right, I def remember Raf scoring in black but yeah Zorocich was in white.  I can't believe his goal was 10 years ago, wow.

MEH!

Was at that game but never liked that strip.  I wish we had the likes of Nelsen and Elliot there, we could have so easily won.

Actually, against germany i recall we played in our white top but with black shorts!  thought it quite odd at the time, like we were trying to confuse ze germans and make them pass to us.

on the whole black white debate i'd say it doesn't matter which is our "home" strip as we seem to play in each one about the same amount anyway.

I don't mind which strip NZ uses as long as they play to the best of their abilities. We can be proud of both strips, both evoking pride in our team and our country.
Re the comparison with the 81/82 NZ team, that campaign was a marathon 15 or so games, still the longest ever WC qualification run I believe, an epic, and one never achieved by an NZ team up to that time.Hard to beat...but with the form shown against Italy they're on the right path.

Still think it's the other way around.

It was down to the coach at the time. Ken Dugdale was using the 3-5-2 formation effectively with decent warm up games in '99. Mike Waite was using 4-4-2 with outdated tactics/strategy against Columbia and France. I really don't want to go there.

We did definitely play Colombia in white - just saw Raf's goal on youtube.

I know we played at least one game in '99 in black, and I've always thougt it was against the US.

It was sort of green black colour. I think it was against US as well as Germany. Not quite sure. I have a check.

From memory we played in white (with black shorts!) against ze germans - so we looked like Germany, and they wore green I think. Thought we were all white against Brazil and all black against USA, but can't find any footage of the US game.

I'm actually quite surprised that Zoricich's goal's not on youtube.
