de Jong has  denied that any thing has been signed. Looks a great opportunity however for some quality games

Will our next squad for the all whites be our most continental ever...

I was just day dreaming about NZ in the 2014 world cup and thought to myself that we must now have more overseas players than local players in the squad. I don't imagine this has been the case traditionally.

Anyways to speculate on my imagined squad as of now. 12 int vs 8 local

Based Overseas                                  Local

Glesson                                                Moss

Reid, Smith                                          Lochead, Hogg, Sigmund Durante

Payne, Howieson, Barbs, Rojas          Bertos, Vicelich

Henderson, McGlinchey

Wood, Smeltz, Killen                           Brockie

For a World Cup squad you need 3 more players, so the balance would be a bit closer. Henderson also far from a certainty, although I agree that he needs a good look over the next few months ahead of the qualifier.

youd say 1 would be a keeper - maybe O'Keefe.

Keat would probably get the call

then maybe a fenton or Roux may sneak in depending on form

I think that Herbert call-up he`s regular players who play qualifications. It`s 18 players. It seems to me that it`s tha base. This 5 places should be calling: goalkeepers: Gleeson and Williams (he play regular all season); Henderson; Howieson or Fenton or Appiah-Kubi (one from this three) and right beck. In All-White team is only one player (Bertos) who play in this position. Graham, Scott and maybe Musa - it`s my propositions.

If we are going to trial RB's i'd like to see Tuiloma or Roux get a run.

This may be off topic? But is anybody actually going to brazil? I am, and have registered interest with williments, but they seem to be saying that FIFA are going to be taking more control over match tickets etc. making planning the whole thing harder and a bit more stressful.

we [ about ten of us ] registered for Germany and didnt even get in the draw ...will try again tho...

It seems we'll have to get tickets, then hope flights accommodation etc aren't stupidly expensive by then

Or

Book flights, accommodation etc, then hope we get tickets around where we are.

Neither is ideal.

Haven't looked into it but yeah, that was my thought too. Auckland direct to Buenos Aires I think is possible.

Dammit it was Aerolineus Argentinas I was thinking of but apparently they stopped doing the direct flight last year.

I think LAN still flies direct to Chile? From memory that was the only other way to get to South America direct (if it's true that AA are no longer flying to BA).

Yep, this is the way. LAN much nicer airline than Aerolineas as well, but more expensive, and even more so now that they're the sole direct link between NZ and South America.
I know that Air NZ were negotiating direct flights to Brazil, but I don't think they've been able to move far enough on that front to have it happening next year.

Caught up with my mate I'm going with in aucks on the weekend. He sheepishly said his wife is putting the foot down and he's only allowed to go now if we qualify haha no pressure in November!

Not married Trip??

If anyone's wife is even thinking about letting their husband travel half way round the world to watch football in a country known for beautiful women where booze / drugs and everything else is pretty much rampant.... well he clearly has his balls and her ovaries in his pocket.

Tried to sort this myself, but with a new born on the way in a few months there's no chance for me.

Yeah think he went with the "it's all about the football" card, no dice. No drama anyway, know of others that are keen and since the next couple may be a bit odd (seriously Russia and Qatar? How cool would England and Aus have been?) it's an easy sell. He got the leave pass for Liverpool in Melbs and may still make Brazil!

You just give the old woman money for Housekeeping then and she better not spend more than that or a backhander will be coming her way!

A snafu: i.e. situation normal, all fucked up.

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."
