Anyone know how concrete that dates are for the home/away play off? Looking to book holiday to the US around that time, leaving time to fly in and out for the away leg. But things will be too expensive by the time the opposition confirmed.

Dates are as concrete as they will ever be. You would have to wait until the opposition is confirmed and a venue chosen before you book though, because it will be in any one of the six countries and that country is not likely to be decided until the last game of the Hex.

Yeah exactly but thinking we will book the big flight now because will likely have to go through the US regadless of where the game is. Will allow say 2-weeks in the US.

Then once country is confirmed just booked a return flight to the desination from US. Just to avoid as many light minute flight bookings as possible.

Ah, right. Like I said, the dates are set in stone.

I saw Herbert on the news last night saying Durante would be our new holding midfielder for the up and coming all whites matches. Could be worse I guess.

I doubt it. with Nelson gone we still need three central defenders to play Rickis style

Prefer Vicelich in Midfield if he is to play.

Agreed - too slow these days to try to keep up with most international strikers

Edit: although I totally expect him to play in a back 3 because Ricki just won't let that formation go

Sigh

He needs to wake up. 3-4-3 isnt going to get us anywhere. Find a right back! 4-2-3-1

The Phoenix can't even find one, what hope does the All Whites have when we are restricted to just NZ'ders. Our best hope of finding one is the 2 kids in the u20's.

Regarding RB I wouldn't be surprised if RH is taking renewed interest in Steven Old.

Steven Old? Can't see it.

I think you are more likely to see Ivan in the back 4 with Reid further out playing a 4-4-2 with Smeltz up front.

Oh and Marco for Fenton who is not ready for international football for at least a year easy. If he keeps playing with his head down.....

and I've suggested Tuiloma/Roux as well. One of the other needs to be tried in August against Canada (which is what someone mentioned today). No idea if any truth to it

I don't think he'll change from a 3-4-3 to be honest nor will he takes risks on the likes of Tuiloma/Roux, Scott, Hogg, Rowe, Fenton, Howieson etc. I can see this being the side come Nov with Smeltz in for Barbarouses perhaps.
Moss
Reid Durante Smith
Bertos McGlinchey Vicelich Brockie
Barbarouses Wood Rojas

Part of the Road to Brazil for the All Whites was including the Fifa Confederations in June...obviously we didnt make it but was just checking out the matches to be played.

Spain vs Tahiti. 20th of June.

Ouch!

Does anyone know when NZF will make a decision re the venue for the November playoff match? A few media articles had mentioned a decision would be made by the end of May but this has now well and passed! Find it hard to see why NZF need over 2 and a half months to make a decision! Also, some sources suggest the game will be on Nov 19 and some Nov 20. Can anyone confirm the correct date?

They've probably made it already but are having trouble sending out the media release.

It's never easy
When you're up against the world
And home is far away
You feel you're on your own
So it's good to know that
Back home they're watching you
Wanting you to know
You'll never be alone

We're heading for the top
And aiming for the future
And we won't ever stop
While we are in control
We'll fight until we drop
And always we'll remember
To play the game as best we can
To reach our final goal

Some people like to say
That we're too small to try
But it's not always size alone that takes the prize
Gonna do the best we can
And hold our heads up high
And very soon
The world will realise

We're heading for the top
And aiming for the future
And we won't ever stop
While we are in control
We'll fight until we drop
And always we'll remember
To play the game as best we can
To reach our final goal

A lot of people said
We'd never make it through
Said it was just a great impossibility
But as we pressed ahead
They saw what we could do
And what was once a dream
Became reality

[Chorus x2]
And we're heading for the top
And aiming for the future
And we won't ever stop
While we are in control
We will fight until we drop
And always we'll remember
To play the game as best we can
To reach our final goal

Is definitely June 20th. (Away game is June 13th), Reason for 14th/19th dates listed is because of the original FIFA window as it stood, but it has been expanded for the Playoff games by one day at each end.

Surely they know where?
I mean, you'd think the venues themselves would be taking bookings this far in advance?

Do I just book an on sale flight for Welly on the 19th of Nov & just hope I've got it right, then get a cheapy to Auckland if it turns out to be on up there?
Decisions.

"Our relationship with New Zealand Football has been good, we're going up on Friday and I don't think they would put us through a whole lot of trouble if they didn't want us. We've lined up some good marketing strategies, similar to the Bahrain match, we've got good partners to assist us so there's no stone left unturned in terms of trying to get this game. We've put in a bloody good bid."

They should call it "Another Glory Shot" or "One More Glory Shot"

One More Glory Shot handily abbreviates to OMGs as in "OMGs I'm like totes looking forward to the All Whites game, YOLO!"

That would certainly bring in a few extra punters (One more glory shot: 90 mins, 90 emotions).
