Registrations haven't opened yet but games will cost $2.99 each or $20 for the lot

This is tempting. I'm considering hooking my comp up to my 55" led wonder what the streaming quality will be like?

Quality for some of the O-League games and Olympic Qualifiers were pretty good, although that was on my laptop and Galaxy, not sure how it would stretch out

BZ, I got that same email from Sky too. Given how last minute they're negotiations have been lately, I would hesitantly say that there's still a decent chance these games will be on TV. Fingers crossed

This represented agreeance with the post above.

Another odd Herbert decision - he really does get away with murder some times in that there is no real media asking questions and challenging these types of decisions.

I notice it was announced just after 'In the Zone' was out to avoid our searing analysis.

Can I just say Quote tags used to work for me but I can't remeber how I got them to work.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Anyone else who has Sky/Telstra and wants to watch should email them as well - hopefully if enough people bring it up Sky will come to the party

I got the same reply also, however all the Island TV stations have already been able to successfully secure broadcasting rights, so it seems unlikely that this is the reason that Sky isn't showing it.

They might just be driving a hard bargain - trying to get the OFC to knock the price down by delaying the decision?

Wouldn't surprise me if they're driving a hard bargain (read: being cunts).

Perhaps the Island nations got the rights cheap courtesy of the OFC and Sky feel aggrieved that they're not able to get an equally cheap deal before handing it off to the likes of us for extortionate prices.

I got the same email reply. I played dumb and pretended I didnt know they werent showing them, just that I couldn't find the screening time.

Great news that Sky is getting some flack by the pollies for their "alleged" anti competitive activities. At least they won't be charging Oceania football to show the games(if they do). Seems like Sky has been demanding payment from the actual sports bodies to show their events on TV. Thats what has got guys like Jim Anderton all wound up. Sports bodies that have been getting state funding have been hit up by Sky to telecast...including stuff like the World Triathalon event in NZ. Taxpayer money given to develop sport goes straight into Sky's bank account.

News Release from SKY Television:

It is with great regret that SKY Sport must announce that it has not been successful in securing the rights to broadcast the Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup.

The OFC and its media partner are exploring other distribution options.

At SKY Sport we are disappointed but we have to accept the OFC decision not to award the television broadcast rights to us.

We are genuinely sorry for football fans.

So it is exactly what OFC told us last week, and now SKY are trying to make it sounds like it is the OFC's fault for not awarding them the rights.

Clearly either OFC or NZF are at fault for it. Sky can only be expected to broadcast what they see as "good for business". Anything else is irrelevant.

Fuck this stupid game

I am especially p1ssed off (unless another broadcaster comes to rescue). The stream better be decent.

Wow. Reid and Nelsen 'injured'.  I'm shocked.

I actually like Timmy Myers.  Looks a bit like a young Tim Brown, played through the age groups.  Interesting that he's called ahead of Boyens though.  Can't think of anyone better in that role (Centre back, occassional Right Back) currently playing ASB Premiership football.

Reid out is a huge blow. Some of the young lads are going to have to really step up, this tournament isn't going to be as easy as a lot of people think it will.

Agree Patrick.

That Banana Peel keeps getting more and more slippery.  We've been embarassed in these sort of circumstances before.

Reid was never playing was he. Guessing they cut a deal with the Hammers. Big Sam gave up the Olympics, but drew the line at ofc nations cup.

We saw it in the U23 Olympic Qualifiers, most people expected it to be a cakewalk but we had to scrape a couple of 1-0 results. Not to mention the semifinal where we almost blew it...

Would prefer it the other way round to be honest.  This tournament is more important than some Olympic kick and giggle.

For the OFC Third Round it will be New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Vanuatu.

Could someone tell me how many games the All Whites have played since Ricki took over and how many has Ryan (Glory Hunter) turned up and played in?

If I remember rightly Ricki named Ryan as his inteneded capitain from Day 1. Think it took about 19 games before he finally fronted.

Still can't get over this broadcast issue. Sure, I could pay $20 to watch the games streamed but not only would that use up data which could be otherwise used for downloading filthy porn, I don't see why I should when I already pay money to Sky to have live sports beamed into my living room. Biggest sport in the world and I can't even watch our national team playing a game in our own backyard. At least I will still be able to watch highlights of the Prague marathon...

As successful as Musa and Grffiths.

An U21 Centre-Back is not our answer although based on the ongoing campaign to drop expectations daily I expect it will be the answer we are left with.

The Fiji game is not listed on their site as showing, but they only have four events listed to play this weekend so they might not have added everything to their list yet.

There will be a maximum of 5 All Whites games, and 5x$3=$15, so the choice is to be able to watch the other teams play for an extra $5 or just get AW's.

Watch and Bet only does live streaming, no delayed coverage.

Like Tim but unfortunately he is to old to take an U21 spot
