LOL de Jong getting all uppity......"what good would it do us playing Brazil or Spain" in todays Doompost. No one is asking you to play Brazil or Spain you muppet!!!

Obviously NZF is feeling the heat...and fair enough too! You can understand the players frustrations as well. They know whats going down. Imagine being a player trying to get your head around the last 18 months. Imagine seniors players reactions when they hear stuff like..."Killen/Dura will be playing DM"....WTF. Then they only find out the schedule for this tour last Wednesday. Some of Worthlesstons stuff is a beat up but its obvious there are some unhappy people out there.

So now there are doubts about McClinchey  being released only for the T & T game. LOL what did NZF expect....why should a club lose a player for non internationals....next thing Victory will hold back Costa.

and that's why this window is a bloody shambles!!! Fred should really really really keep his mouth shut right now. He is literally opening it to take out one foot and then put the other in. I would be extremely unhappy if he was our next CEO.

Does anyone know when the team is going to be announced?

clearly the team is a secret

i think we are now seen as pests by NZF and undeserving of any form of communication

these guys get worse at their job by the week

also interesting that de jong says that the players are right behind herbert, but also says he hasn't spoken to any players

Jeez Wayne, they are getting a week in camp and three games. What more do you want?

By the way, NZF are not responsible for managing the anxiety levels of those forum members of a nervous disposition.

If your were the manager of those clubs would you risk your best players in a meaningless friendly or give fringe/youth/returning from injury players a run?  Hence two B teams.

Not seen as "meaningless friendlies" by any means by the clubs and players involved - the tournament is in aid of hurricane relief in Mexico. Mexico was hit by two devastating hurricanes on 16th and 19th September with winds and floods cutting through several states:

"Hurricane Ingrid and tropical storm Manuel hit Mexico in early September, almost concurrently --- Ingrid came from the Gulf of Mexico, while Manuel hit the country from the Pacific Ocean, in a rare dual event. In the storm’s wake, half a million people are homeless, 50,000 people were evacuated, 123 people died, and 68 remain missing as a result of a landslide, according to the Interior Ministry. One half of the victims were killed in Guerrero, one of the poorest states in Mexico."

Info on the hurricanes and Operation USA, the aid group behind the tournament:

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Hurricanes-Storms-Mexico-Acapulco-Relief-Operation-USA-224505211.html

Hence the involvement of two major Mexican clubs, Chivas USA (Mexican-owned MLS side), LA United club, an El Salvador team, NZ.

Three of Mexico's greatest players from the past fronted the press conference launching it and reports mentioned TV coverage.

So, given all these circumstances, it seems unlikely the clubs involved will field "B teams".

There's a two week break in the Mexico and MLS leagues, so no need for the clubs involved to rest players.

Some of the players that could be involved:

QUERETARO FC (Mexico): Esteban Paredes (30 cap Chile international striker, top-scorer in Mexico last season)

Luis Ernesto Pérez - 69 cap former Mexico international midfielder has appeared in the World Cup Finals

Leandro Gracián - top Argentinian midfielder ex- Boca Juniors, Independiente and Velez Sarsfield (> 200 apps in Argentinian league)

CHIVAS USA:  Carlos Bocanegra - 110 cap USA legend , ex- Fulham, Rangers, Rennes, Saint Etiennes

Tilson Oswaldo Minda - Ecuador international midfielder

Steven Purdy Ramos - current El Salvador international defender (ex-1860 Munich, Germany)

Carlo Franco Chueca - new 21 year-old Peruvian midfielder signed from Belgium (Anderlecht, Mons)

Five players on loan from Chivas Guadalajara, the Mexican parent club, with hundreds of appearances between them in the Mexican league.

Manager - José Luis Real since May (former successful Chivas Guadalajara manager - runner-up Copa Libertadores 2010)

And there are now unfortunately a lot of injury concerns around the AW's for these games and November, especially affecting our attacking stocks:
Players likely to be out for these Oct. games: Rojas, Smeltz, Payne, Killen
+ Chris Wood now added to the list:
+ McGlinchey may only be released by Central Coast for the Trinidad game.
Injury concerns: Chris James is in doubt due to an injury picked up a couple of weeks ago which forced him out of the Finnish Cup final last weekend.
Dan Keat returned to the Falkenbergs matchday squad mid-September but has only been used sparingly as a late sub.
Doesn't sound like Rojas is fit enough yet: Latest on Rojas from the Guardian, UK this week: " "I just take it day by day. At the moment with my foot, it's difficult to say. Once I think I can get through a whole week, or a whole two weeks of training without pain or without having to take any precautions during training, then I think I'll have the base of training to be able to push on."
Meanwhile, Kris Bright has fallen from favour at his club Mariehamn in Finland and hasn't played a single minute in their four games since the Saudi tournie.
Rory Fallon only returned to the Saint Johnstone bench last weekend (unused sub) after being out a few weeks.

I think the real reason is that this has turned into a dogs breakfast. Clubs like CCM, Victory, Ipswich and West Ham are only going to release their players for the game they have to - Trinadad. This so called training week big Sam  will be thinking "you are having a laugh son" and rightly so. One of the big dogs (Fred) needs to be held accountable for this mess.

I didn't know that, and I don't doubt that hurricane relief is a good cause, but that's hardly the point here in relation to someone calling this game meaningless. In all honestly I think it's great that NZF is going to be involved in some sort of charity match, but this is NOT the time for it. Obviously.

If anything all that's going to do is reduce the quality of the games, surely?!

Also, it has just occurred to me that if what you're saying is true Big Pete, then our warm-up games would not be happening had it not been for a series of hurricanes hitting Mexico. Jesus wept this goes from bad to worse.

If I were to guess as to why the team has not been named, I would guess its because

A: clubs have not been told their players are required and/or

B: clubs are refusing to release players for anything other than the Trinidad game which is at odds with NZFs intentions for this camp of time together

I think it's been well established that this is a mess so why shoot at dead horses...

that's a good post too bro

so, it appears that, for the majority of the 'camp', we are going to have a hotch potch assembly of fringe players, with only durante, moss and vicelich from the first XI there.

i'm starting to wonder if it would be better for the phoenix to join every other club with half a brain in only releasing players for the international window

You have the hard core fan like many on here, who are awaiting this squad with some anticipation, waiting for the player they like to be named and wanting to digest the rest. Wouldn't it however be nice if the squad was named and some reporter picking up a nice feel good story (mayeb a new young cap or a comeback) and writing a good article for joe public to read in their Sunday papers tomorrow over their Vegemite on toast. No, we leave t until the players get on the plane.

Why should clubs release their players outside international windows? I stand fully with the coach's that are protecting their players from playing pointless fixtures against non international teams. This would happen with any nation in the world. Do you think Arsenal would release their players if say France was playing two meaningless games against club sides outside of the designated international window period. NZF should have known this. They seriously need to sort their sht out.

You've got a very good post there sir. This could be a fluff piece for some rag about a player coming through etc and etc and yet NZF are treating this like cloak and dagger stuff so that what we focus on - how fucking inept this window actually has been managed.
The majority of players will already know and logistics will have been arranged so why it's not out in the public arena is just bollocks.

The All Whites' tour plans to Los Angeles and Trinidad and Tobago have been thrown into disarray on the eve of their departure but it might end in a better result for the side as they prepare for next month's World Cup playoff.

The All Whites were due to play two games against club sides as part of a six-team tournament in Los Angeles before playing Trinidad and Tobago in Port-of-Spain but one of the club outfits is experiencing visa issues which is putting the tournament in doubt.

New Zealand Football still have the option of playing Mexican club side Queretaro FC on October 13 (NZT) in Los Angeles but the two sides are now likely to meet at Queretaro's 45,000-seat stadium, which is two hours outside of Mexico City. NZF are also looking into playing a club side in Mexico City three days earlier.
