Haha, and shirts off at 80th minute right?

Need to print a rule sheet for us out-of-town n00bies so we all know the etiquette :)

If you haven't seen the other thread, I'm looking for something appropriate to put on a banner in Arabic and English so if you have any ideas let me know :)ahmad2009-10-28 18:31:51

Honestly there were more than enough tickets for "true football fans". This is NZ after all.

Not really sure if "true football fans" that missed out on tickets can truly be classed as "true football fans".

I'm not even that into football but am travelling from out of town and planned it ages ago.

Welcome to the footbal family Ahmad,

How are your banner ideas going?
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

Cheers mate. I'm totally wrapped up in football fever.

I come from a background of waking up in the middle of the night to watch 20 minutes of FA Cup finals on TVNZ before rapidly falling asleep in front of the TV.

Last night I got up at 3:45am and rushed down to a workplace that has SKY TV to watch the game until the 65th minute (without falling asleep), then rushed home at 6am to catch a few more ZZZs before work at 8am.

Unfortunately banner ideas have not gotten past "One Shot for Glory" in English and Arabic with a stylised player (on a WHITE flag) on it.

I need better ideas and need them quick as I need to find someone to do that Arabic for me.

Its tough when we argue what a true fan is, in my opinion most true fans would have underestimated the hype because WE all knowhowmany turned up to the other games (around 2,500)

Just curious, where have these other games with crowds of 2,500 been?

When was the last time the All Whites played in Wellington?

I know they tend to like to play in Auckland, with it's great history of supporting football teams like the Knights and the Kings... but I am sure they'd get more than 2,500 to show up even if they played somewhere like New Plymouth :P

NZ vs Vanuatu.  Wednesday night at the stadium in the last two years.  Only 2,500 turned up.

Those that like to beat Wellington keep mentioning this while conveniently ignoring a whole pile of other relevant crowds.

How's my driving? - Whine here

To be fair there was hardly any marketing or advertising for that game plus im sure it was on a week day. anyway....I read something on stuff that FIFA are still to give there answer about the 500 seats at the stadium. So if they say NO. I guess theyll be refunded. Hope they dont though. Hope FIFA confirm that it will be ok.

If not, imagine the chaos! Where are the new set of 500? Apart from the Stuff reference, I hadn't seen any other reference to another 500.

Agree with the comment on the Vanuatu match. It was a bit of a secret to anyone not on these forums that the match was on. And the KO time was quite early, combined with a day that saw lots of delayed flights into Wellington. I was working in Auckland that day and gave myself an early return flight departing Auckland at 3:30pm, but ended up going to the game straight from the airport to arrive about a minute before kick-off.

As already stated, 99.999999% sure that those are additional to the additional seats sold on Wednesday.

Having a look at this document...It seems New Zealand Football can get the three thousand extra seats if they guarantee that they will have extra police surrounding the field...

"

The interior of the stadium must be safe from the intrusion of unauthorised persons. To prevent unauthorised access, stadiums may have a 2.20-metre high fence (metal or safety glass etc), a suitable moat that prevents intrusion, or a combination of the two. For any other measures to reinforce security within the stadium (with a greater number of policemen, for example), prior approval must be sought from the local authorities. "

There everywhere in South America.

Surely FIFA would look at the history of fans running onto the pitch at Westpac and then say we will allow you to sell 3000 tickets if you double the amount of security/police officers surrounding the pitch.

I saw that article on the possible 500 'extra' extra seats. Here's hoping. It will be another bloody lottery to try to get one of those if they come up.

It was reported it took 4 minutes for them all to go last time - more like 4 seconds!

Is there some shortcut way that the scaplers use to get the inside running on the ticketing process? I was right there on the webpage when the last lot came up online. I saw the page change - and went in after one immediately - within a second or two - but they'd all gone. It was the shortest 4 minutes I've ever seen....seems a bit dodgy to me.

Anyway - lets get them to surround the ground with Police and get another 2000 in eh!

Still looking if anyone has something....

Cheers

I'm not a scalper, but I often get in on early pre-sales somehow. For the 500 tickets, there is no early thing as far as I am aware. But you have several hundred people looking to grab tickets and once the tickets are in your basket they are held for 8 minutes or so - it wouldn't take long for the lucky people to have held all of them. How much would extra Police cost for the day?

Offer the Police force $200,000 in order to satisfy any FIFA demands, release 3000 tickets at $65 each (people will pay), and everyone wins (except the Trademe scalpers).

I'm sure the extra 3000 wouldn't mind paying the higher price, and the AW get another 3000 screaming fans.

Just a bit of advice for ticket-searchers in case the extra 500 seats become available: go to the ticketek offices instead of trying internet or phone.. went in 9am wednesday, had no probs to grab some tickets.

here's hoping they release some more for those still missing out!

Strangely enough the thought had briefly crossed my mind, but I'd have to spend the whole time with my back to the game watching the crowd go beserk, plus it would be a bit of a giveaway in the last 10 minutes when the shirts had to come off (hopefully)! I'm assuming the shirts-off rule holds for the NZ team as much as it does for the Phoenix

I know someone that queued outside an office and when they checked at 9am on the Ticketek clock (they tried before but they were not yet released at 8:5x am), there was NOTHING available.

8000 sevens tickets go in under 20 seconds. If you do not get lucky by refreshing and teh page loading the instant they are up, hitting your choices fast and getting an easy security word they will be gone.  Ergo, gone in 20 secs.

it was exactly the same with these, except there were 500, vs 8000.  Apparently the max was four - so out of everyone in NZ trying, perhaps 200 individuals got tickets.

Could they perhaps make it that you have to pick up your tickets from Ticketek a maximum number of x days prior to the game or pickup from the gate?

It would be one practical way to try and slow the scalping but I appreciate this makes things harder for the majority purchasing tickets for genuine reasons.

Someone's probably already said this somewhere.

Actually - it would be fairest perhaps, to allow only one ticket per person if another chance comes - seems a bit fairer. Lots of people will be getting seats from the last round who didn't have to sit online and have a go, but had some mate do it for them.... seems to me that some of the keener people are missing out somehow.

But I'm a bit biased I guess....

I see what you mean Gordinho, but as I want to attend the match with my brother with whom I got to all matches - had a season ticket at Goodison for 11 years (age 5 - 16) before we moved out here, so for me I wouln't enjoy the game half as much if I couldn't sit with him.

I certainly see the temptation to limit the tickets, and the amount of new listings for four tickets on TradeMe in the last day or two sickens me, but I think ultimately football is a social event and one that Dads (and Mums) like to take their kids to etc. so realistically a four ticket minimum is probably as low as you can feasibly go.

I agree it's ridiculously frustrating how fast they went on Wednesday though. If there's another lot of 500 going up I think I'll go to ticketek and leave my brother on the internet - double our chances and if we should somehow both get some, I'll just sell the extras to two people on here at face value rather than ripping people off on TradeMe.

Yeh EvertonFC, can't argue with that. If I could have got a couple I was hoping to try and fly my bro up from Dunedin as a surprise. He's a top guy whose had a very undeserved tough time lately and that would be something good I could do. Still trying for something like that.

I guess this is just a case of the last few desperate souls trying to get a hand on the lifeboat.

I was thinking about trying the same approach as you, getting a friend to try online and maybe go to a Ticket outlet as well.

Good luck with yours eh!

What's the latest with NZ Football's appeal to FIFA for the extra 3000 seats? Does anyone know when this appeal will be decided? If anyone here has any contacts with NZ football I'd love to know the timeframe on the appeal.

I'm still hanging out for the extra 3000, I don't see why not. All they have to do is organise extra security. Should be a no-brainer.

Cheers

So i asked a question on Ash_nz1's auction on TradeMe, and offered a price for his two tickets, I offered $120.  He was selling them for $120, and that wasn't even the reserve.  He returned with the answer "do you want a reserve sweetie will that make you happy and humble?", while I had a little chuckle, I then proceeded to ask another quesetion, and then found out I was blacklisted by this member.
This guy is obviously a f**kwit, and obviously a scalper.  These people selling tickets on TradeMe with high reserves, or no Buy Now's at face value should be shot.

Ah yes you are right darkhorse, I misread the article.

"New Zealand Football has appealed against Fifa's decision to reject an extra 3000 temporary seats at the ground for security reasons.

Chairman Frank van Hattum met officials and an appeal for about 500 extra temporary seats went to Fifa yesterday. An answer is expected by tomorrow."
