White Out - Wear Anything White

I have just emailed this letter to the editor of the Dom-Post:

Dear Sir,

I will be watching the All Whites take on Bahrain on November 14th from my home in London. If I see any New Zealanders not wearing white shirts at the ground I will be very disappointed, and perhaps even moved to renounce my New Zealand citizenship.

Kind Regards

That's awesome. Please print it :p

Can a regular listener of Radio Sport tell me if the "white out" has been raised on air? Because I'm happy to put my hand up and make a call if need be.

Also what about ZB?

It will be nice to have a white out. but all whites also wear all black so if there are some that dont want to wear white then black will be good too..just as long as theres no wearing RED!!! lol.

Then it wouldn't be a white-out...

Whiteout = Everyone in white.

As long as the white you WILL be wearing when you supprt us from London as an All Whites shirt (if you have one).... if you don't I am sure you can get a cheap white tee from Primark (will be worth more than a Tottenham at the end of the season)...

So I take it Moose that you will be wearing an All Whites shirt?

Sorry in advance but I won't be lashing out for any such merchandise (thinking very seriously about scarves - but x4 is rather steep). Of course I do have other white shirts including a classy one with Holsten written on the front.

White in colour definitely - as far as I'm concerned any white coloured shirt is showing your support

Some of my parents friends are going to the game, and they already knew about the white out and were planning to wear white even before I mentioned it - so it seems that the word is getting out there even to casual football fans.

Going with 3 mates, I'll be in a Spurs Shirt, one of my mates will be in a Wimbledon away shirt (white), another an Everton away (white) and the other one in All Whites Shirt...so we're all in White...

Sorted...

i think it looks incredibly average when you see supporters in other teams shirts at any sporting game.

e.g
hurricanes shirt at a lions game
all blacks tops to any other rugby game
liverpool tops to a fury game

if you want to support the team that is actually playing, wear the top they actually wear

erm, hurricanes shirt to a lions game is fine...its all wellington rugby...practically the same players even

All blacks top to a rugby game...showing you support NZ rugby, but yeah bit of a stretch.

Liverpool tops to a fury game is poor form.

But who the f**k cares, least theyre there supporting.

The 'white-out' thing really needs the media to get behind it. I hope this will happen next week, when the build-up reaches feverpitch. I'm looking forward to travelling up on the plane dressed in white, though I suspect at 7.00 am on the day I  will feel something of a twit.

I tend to think that is a bit harsh. Not everyone can afford to fork out for a new shirt for the game.  All whites gear > white shirt > everything else.

Yeah it would be good if someone got in touch with ricki, and got him to mention the White out next time he is interviewed. Or Miles on the radio, Or perhaps TV3 i am sure they would mention it (There should be a sarcasm icon)

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

Hurricanes shirt to Lions game = Phoenix shirt to TWs game.  Not sure about that TBH.

Still, I don't expect everyone to fork out $100 for an All Whites top, given we get so few decent games in NZ at which to wear them. And that's if there is only one of you who needs to buy one for this game.

As has been said - just make it white.  And yes, please, cover your genitals somehow cosimo.

Here's me and the boys chilling in the pool of our hotel.

On our way down to breakfast. There's always one dickhead dressed as Santa at this time of year.

On the way to the game. "Can anyone smell bacon?"

Half time.

back to topic.  To summarise:
If you wanna spend some money at RYOS great.
If you don't that's great too.  Just make sure you wear white.

end of.

It is on topic. Discussing whether wearing a spurs or another white sports top to the all whites game is appropriate. Nazi

Is it ever appropriate to wear a spurs shirt. That is the real question.

Sorry off topic again.

As long as it's white I say

I have a white double-breasted suit jacket I bought for the races a few years back.  Seems a waste to cover the AW's top though.  But if I could get the pants (and cane, and furs, and girls) to go with it...

P.s. can I wear a Wellington Lions top to a Wellington Phoenix game, if all that matters is that it has Wellington in bold letters?  Or is there also something relevant about the team itself, and not just the city?

Different sport...wellington lions to a wellington hurricanes = supporting wellington rugby so why not, whats the difference. Wellington phoenix to a team wellington, supporting wellington football, again whats the difference. Wellington lions to a wellington phoenix game is pretty odd, supporting wellington rugby at a football match = weird.

How can you not see that...seriously

What about a Hurricanes top to Wellington vs Taranaki?

just to confuse people. Though surely thatd still lean towards the lions. Its all in the name (this is where you bring up "what about a shirt from wellington FC in the UK?" )

Well what about a Tall Blacks Singlet to a Saints game?

That wouldnt be supporting specifically wellington

The better question would be a saints singlet to a tall blacks game.
