Need to win at Senior level to make a serious impact. Instead of drawing all the time.

Is this the best side NZ have ever had? Huge wins in the qualifiers and series wins over International heavy weights Australia and Argentina?

Could this side go on and win the U17 World Cup for NZ?

Exciting times!!

In Women's football, Australia and Argentina aren't "international heavyweights" and NZ always gives the island teams a right tonking in these qualifiers. So all in all, I'd say the jury is out on this squad at present; certainly a good time for Women's football overall though.

Agree with others the Jury's out on this Squad. Good wins over OZ and Argentina but they have not Qualified for this world cup. They need to play a team from Japan/Korea/Germany/Brazil/Nigeria.

Well the draw's been made and NZ have a very difficult group: Brazil, Mexico and Japan; three exceedingly hard teams whose style of play will be a real test as to whether these girls are, to quote others " the best side NZ have had ".

Expect lots of quick, on the deck passing and movement, and the kind of twisting, dexterious forward play NZ traditionally struggle with...

The good news? The girls avoided Korea, USA and Germany...

Wrong thread! This thread is for the NZ u-17 women ("Young Ferns") whose World Cup is in Azerbaijan from September 22  to October 13.

See this thread instead for the NZ u-20 women whose World Cup kicks off on Sunday (NZT) in Japan:

http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/forums/all-whites-and-other-nz-international-teams/wimmin-u-20s?page=5

Is maybe a ittle confusing with the two age-group World Cups in quick succession and NZ playing Mexico in both.

News and draw for u-17 World Cup Azerbaijan at FIFA here:

http://www.fifa.com/u17womensworldcup/index.html

Draw for Azerbaijan next month:

Group C

Match Date - Time Venue           5 23/09 15:00 Baku   Mexico - New Zealand   6 23/09 18:00 Baku   Brazil - Japan   13 26/09 17:00 Baku   Mexico - Brazil   14 26/09 20:00 Baku   New Zealand - Japan   21 30/09 14:00 Baku   Japan - Mexico   22 30/09 14:00 Baku   New Zealand - Brazil

I watched 5 mins and switched off. We play like the Solomon Islands did - fucking awful. Paul should stick to trying to copy Jose's fashion cause he certainly can't coach if these girls are an indication. I don't think I saw one pass from our team made with any plan. Just kick aimlessly.

Why do I get a feeling you judge a lot of games based on 5 minutes of play?

Does explain a lot.
