japan up 5 - 0 , not half time yet

Permalink Permalink

half time 3 - 2 to Brazil
Good goal by NZ at the end of the half

Mexico are still down 5 - 0. NZ pull off a win (unlikely) and they would go through to the next round

Chats away to himself...

Interested to see how they go in the second half.

Girls played better than previous games. They still gave the ball away from the back at times, but less, (must have been reading Jeff Vaders posts LOL ) and some good balls were played through for the front runners. Better at set pieces too, were always threatening at corners.

They will be disappointed to lose.  But gave it everything.  LOLz for Mexico.  Their goal difference is worse than ours now.  Japan will be the only team to win all 3 group games and my bet is that they will go on to win it.

Bring on 2014

Now that the dust has settled overall I was disappointed with our overall play, I know the side is young but at time we looked shield shocked.

. Lost count the number of poor passes, many without any real pressure. At time we looked unfit, I know it was hot but must wonder what our support staff were doing? Were they providing the girls with replacement salts, minerals etc, ice baths for recovery.

Also NZ Football must be asked did the team have the funding for a good build up, compared to other countries.

probably the worst period of passing was in the first twenty minutes of the first game - so not really game fitness (more likely nerves).

Just finished watching the Final France defeated DR of Korea on pens after 1 - 1 at extra time. France the fist side from the northern hemisphere to win the FIFA Under Women's 17 Cup.

Noticed that both Japan and Brazil from NZ's group went out at the quarters, thought they were sure things to win?? Shows how far off we were really.

Must say both France and Korea looked old for U17...

Was the number 20 for France Tony Cascarino's daughter? I know he had two kids with a French woman. Cascarino isn't a very French name. Would make sense.

Mr Temple can't be happy about that!!!

That takes full time staff directly involved with NZ women's national teams to 6! compared to possibly 1 for the men!

Mr Temple signalled in November he wasn't applying for the position

Quality. Higher ranked sides attract better coaches.

There was a rumour about him and some tweeting going on that was inappropriate when away with the team?

Whats the background on that?

He won't have any reason to strut through the NZF office on a bases any more, like I heard he did.

unfortunate it is a foreigner - but a good appointment by the looks. Better to have a foreigner in u17s - as it won't matter so much if they move on after a couple of years.

This is a brilliant appointment and at last they get a real coach.

Agree it's a big step forward, hopefully it pays off in the long run.

Anyone with a connection to the squad know if the girls have been asked to pay-to-represent if selected for Costa Rica?

I would imagine the funding for SNZ would cover this!
