Great squad, ricki got it right, very pleased for clapham.
I've personally never seen him play, but from all I heard, I really look forward to seeing him at the WC!

Would've like to have seen Costa in the 23, he offers something different to our targetman style striker.

Jeremy Christie, I saw him walking around with Danny Hay last November... Was shocked to see them but was thinking All Whites of the past.

Christie or Mulligan (probably Christie, to be honest) should have made way for Barbarouses or Peverley.  I'd have gone for Costa, probably.  Other than that, my only complaint is Moss being there.  He should never be selected.  Yes, the boys at NZF owe him, but this is ridiculous.  Put Spoonley in ahead of him and put Bannatyne back to third.

Interesting they picked both Mully and Plodder. I would have thought you only take one of them.

that's because you didn't write it live and publish it within 1 minute and had time to edit it! Nah joking, actually we should post the list again and again so people don't have to go back 20 pages to try and find it!

Good for Christie. Solid looking squad, wonder how many of those will play though.

Ricki must seem to think that Mulligan and Christie provide better cover in the utility area than Oughton can.

That would give you 6 strikers and 7 midfielders.

Ricki suggested that only 15 or 16 of the squad might actually get game time. brettdale2010-05-10 13:28:04

His form in the trial games and conduct at training, that's how. Who would you replace him with (fullback/DM utility)?

I suppose Ricki needs someone in the squad he can easily justify not playing. If he gets game time its a joke, I know he's got 20+ caps but come on, he hasnt featured for his club team in a long time (oh wait, he hasnt got a club)

other than that its a solid squad

god that must suck going all the way over there with your national team and not actually playing. As I've not followed a world cup very closely before how many days before the first game does Herbert name the starting line-up?

you are not a football   fan,  that is such a  naive  question

managers  they have  up to  1 hour before  kick off  to provide  the  starting eleven......most of the managers  play  POKER  with the  team selection until the  last  minutes

that is how football  works   and will always  will   a    game  for  the,,.... wise and  tricky ... guys!!

From memory, think the starting line-up has to be handed in to the officials one hour before the scheduled kick-off for each game.

Btw, very surprised Plodder made it.

No way, i reckon that would be amazing. What a party they would have. Surely Christie and Mulligan are banking on no time on the field.
