To those who think we should start Moss over Paston on current form, please watch a Melbourne game. If you don't have access to Melbournes games you can watch their game this week against Brisbane where you will see the same crap from him again.
Moss has never played as good as Paston has over the past month. End of.

That's harsh. Moss was superb at Confed Cup.

Moss is clearly number 1 keeper, Paston had a good game (about time if u ask me), otherwise he looks incredibly dodgy, would bring spoonley as number 3 keeper, give the young fulla some experience so he can replace paston at the phoenix next year. Bannatyne can stay wif TW.
Hopefully Moss gets his suspension overturned.
Hopefully the 2 young fullus decide playing for NZ is better than trying out for England, which leaves two spots for James and Costa (costa to get a run in so he can shine and be sold to Europe, lol)

Just as Paston has had to do if Moss wants the number one spot back he is going to have to earn it,well that and an ounce of luck getting a crack.

I agree, current form would see Paston as number one. But the WC is a while away yet.

If the World Cup was tomorrow I'd have Paston there. It's not though, and a lot of things could happen between now and 6 months.

Agree. Mossy may be in poor form now but just wait to how he goes in the playoffs before we judge.
And yes Spoonley/ next best youth keeper should be the third keeper. No offence to Bannatyne, but we should be slowly nurturing our youth into the lineup and this is one of those roles that would make sense

Both are exceptional young keepers, but I wouldn't have gleeson, dont think he mature enough (as a player, don't really know the guy) and doesn't quite have the big game experience. spoonley has a few years on him and while both have been to age grade world cups and performed outstanding, spoonley has also had involvement with the all whites before

As I said Paston looks incredibly dodgy, while he makes a couple of good saves (which to some of you makes a good game) but he doesn't give me confidence. thats my opinion you don't have to agree

You don't watch Phoenix games this season or the away leg in Bahrain right?Hopefully Moss gets his suspension overturned.

Paston looks incredibly dodgy
What exactly does this mean? Is it a subjective or objective judgement? He looked rock solid to me on Saturday night.
I remember what Richard Wilson said about Frank van Hattum: "he makes some spectacular saves, but he has to because he's out of position so often". Is that the kind of thing you're talking about?

I think its increadibly harsh to be 'bagging' Paston. How many clean sheets did he have in a row for the nix and including the Bahrain away game? 4,5 or 6 if i can remember. He effectively got us to South Africa so we shouldnt be complaining

But moss can only play the final match anyway? ( I say final, should really say 3rd)
I mean Pastonis going to be there 1st choice, Moss will be there, as Ricki has said. Will depend on the two game wether Moss gets a go in the 3rd one. Other form doesn't matter, because it isn't a selection issue, between Moss and Paston.
Or perhaps i may have missed something read something today abouta nother appealm, but it looks like wioshfull thinking to me?

Barbarouis needs to be in the team, we need more pace up front. id play him, above Killen/fallon, I mean i would go with a combo of smeltz/barbar/killen or fallon, too many target men for me, without him. who would you play in midfield elliott/mcginchley/james?

I think if Costa can hold this form then he'll be a shoo in for the squad. He's probably competing with Kris Bright at Shrewsbury whose name escapes me - he was in the confeds squad but can't get a game at the moment.

Wow I created quite a stir on here, i wasn't out to bag Paston, IN MY OPINION moss is the better keeper, however both will be going to south africa lets leave it at that, and spoonley as 3rd choice. Def think need costa in there for some pace, at very least coming off the bench. Smeltz Fallon up front, Cost Bertos on the flanks with elliott/mcglinchey and brown in centre of the park. leaving blockhead nelsen sigmund and ivan (however if we uncover a decent RB then vicelich to the bench.

Are you having a laff?

Shane you forgot Woods, who no offence to Smeltz / Killen /Fallon is probaly our brightest and most talented striker, at the mere age of 17.
All three strikers who started against Bahrain, bar maybe Smeltz as he offers something a little different will be worried about this kid.
James in cm with Brown, Mcg and Berto out wide. Elliott is hard done by, but at 36 is getting a little older and slower and i feel we need a more technically efficent player to link up with our strikers. (assuming 442). Either that and we drop Brown.
This is all based on the hope James is fit.

Maybe you should read my other post first, its pointless taking three experienced keepers when realistically Bannatyne wouldn't get a game. Why not take a young fulla like spoonley (or gleeson as someone else suggested) and give them some big time experience
and yes, it appears all our RB's are hiding under rocks coz i can't see any good ones

Maybe you should improve your reading comprehension.
I didn't ask you who you would take, I asked why you thought Ricki would drop Bannatyne?
Ricki has already announced publicly that the 18 who qualified will go. You must think he's going to change that plan to accommodate Spoonley. I'm curious to know what gives you that impression.

Take Bannatyne because if we take Moss we need a reliable 2nd keeper for the first two games. Spoonley is not a future All White keeper in my opinion.

That is pretty much the same thing, in who I would take, and why I think Ricki would drop Bannatyne. However maybe my high school english is not quite on par with your grammer. However he has not given me personally any secret indication as to why he would so I guess i can't answer your question
Why would Ricki drop Bannatyne, (you should have been able to read into it, however I understand there are some people out there who live their lives on exact detail). Here is my reason as to why he would. Bannatyne is the oldest of the three Ricki "has said are going" he is unlikely to see gametime, hopefully Ricki will see that it would be more beneficial to New Zealand Football to take a younger goalkeeper to sit on the bench in the big time than to take Bannatyne who will sit on the bench and probably won't be around much longer after this campaign

Better.
I think the third keeper question is one of the most important in the 23 because with Paston's injury-prone history and Moss's suspension that third keeper is quite likely to get some game time.
I agree with you that Jimbo is not the future AW number one. He is however experienced and has a very professional approach to things.
Spoonley has been training with the squad so is probably ahead of Gleeson (who I rate massive) in the scheme of things.
