So question -

How many of our highly rated NZ U20 team have been playing Youth league as they cannot make a senior squad?

From the Wanderers squad who are playing Youth League this season: Regont Murati (ACFC), Judd Baker (Waitakere), Noah Billingsley (Waitakere) and Gowan Stares (TW). The rest of them are in senior squads except for Elijah Neblett and Hudson's favourite, Moses Dyer, who couldn't get a gig in summer football. The only one who seemed to have a future from all of them was Billingsley.

Think the only reason Billingsley is in the Youth squad and not the senior squad is that he's off to the states on a scholarship

Er, that means he would be off in about June or July 2016.

I think that the reason he is playing for WaiBOP cause he by far their best attacking threat. Seemed like everything went through him against Southern. Got the impression that he will be involved in the the prem squad from next week judging from him playing in their preseasons

Sorry my mistake, was referring to Evans playing for youth.

Watched a very entertaining ASBYouthLeague match between the WeeWeeNix and the TEENYwaiBOPPERS at Dave Farrington yesterday. 4-1 to the WeeWeeNix.

Some really good skillful play.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Think you mean Team Wellington

WeeWeeNix went down 1-0 to Nelson at Wakefield this morning (Nelson should have won by a lot more)

Yep, of course. Total brain fade there. Nevertheless, good footy on display. Review of the WeeWeeNix vs. Falcons here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/domestic/74045768/nelson-marlborough-falcons-edge-wellington-phoenix-youth-in-the-capital

A lot of goals in Canterbury United Youth's last three games (16 in total)  - they score a lot and concede a lot.

9 for and 7 against in their last three games:

Last weekend: 3-4 away win vs. Hawkes Bay

8/11: 2-3 home loss to Auckland City

31/10: 1-3 away win vs. Wairarapa

Sharing the goals around too amongst several different scorers with Ryan Stanley (noticeable by his ginger mane) on 3, Aiden Barbour-Ryan on 2, Renta Yamamoto on 2 and for players on one goal each.

ASB YOUTH LEAGUE

FULL TIME | Hawke's Bay United FC 3 - 4 Canterbury United Dragons

A match full of goals and last minute drama at Petane Domain today. Three first half from Fane MORGAN could not stop Canterbury United Dragons from stealing the game with a last minute header.

Goals from Ryan STANLEY, Renta YAMAMOTO, Aiden BARBOUR-RYAN and Fraser ANGUS

Good win boys!

TOP SCORERS

I'm not familiar with any of the young lads scoring the most goals in the Youth League.

What grabs my attention is that three of the top five scorers play for Southern United (18 goals in 6 matches between the three of them).

Is the Youth League's top-scorer Ben Kiore of Southern United a real prospect?

Who is this Greek lad Gianni Bouzoukis scoring lots in the Youth League for Phoenix Youth?

How do people rate the others in the top ten below?

http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/asb-youth-league-fixtu...

("SEASON STATS" > "GOALS" > "VIEW FULL LIST")

TEN TOP SCORERS AFTER SIX ROUNDS:

Player Name Team

Ben Kiore Southern United Youth   7 goals
Gianni Bouzoukis Wellington Phoenix Youth 6 goals
Kwame Norku Team Wellington Youth    6 goals
Lewis Jackson Southern United Youth      6 goals
Benjamin Wade Southern United Youth       5 goals
Finn Moore Team Wellington Youth      5 goals
Myer Bevan Auckland City Youth           5 goals
Nicolas Zambrano Auckland City Youth           4 goals
Regont Murati Auckland City Youth            4 goals
Fane Morgan Hawke's Bay United Youth   3 goals

This league is so tight this year.

What's with Auckland City? Win three games by seven goals yet are only just clawing their way into the title race with two weeks to go.

Top seven separated by four or five points.

2 - 3 in favour of Canterbury. WaiBOP made it 2 - 2 in the 4th minute of added time with Canterbury then scoring the winner a minute later.

Talk about close - 5 points separating the top 7!!! have been trying to guess what will happen but no idea really, winner will be one of the current top 4

Wellington derby Team Wellington v Weewee nix on Wednesday at Newtown Park 6pm kick off - almost like the old National League derbies between Miramar & Wellington United

Big shame that that this league will only have 10 teams next year although 3 of those that are more likely to disappear are in the bottom part of the table (Manawatu United, Auckland United & Heartland Wairarapa)

Congratulations to Team Wellington on wrapping up the league after defeating Canterbury United 2 - 1. Earlier in the day Soutern United defeated Waitakere 5 - 4 to end Waitakere's unbeaten run and title hopes.
