After having a quick look at the game A.C. were the team with more clear cut chances to win the match. I believe it was 1 - nil to AC with 55mins gone. However TW were on attack when i left so might be able to get a draw. Should have been 3 or 4 more to A.C. but that's football.
2-1 auckland city. Terrible offside call by lino lead to an equaliser being cancelled out. Some doubt about Auckland's 2nd as well.

2 - 1 win to Eastern Suburbs over Phoenix . Entertaining game with both sides playing some quality football. Suburbs had more chances but were behind for most of the game until getting the two to win it.

Southern were woeful, esp the two that came off at half time & Peter Coates can go back to pig hunting for the rest of the summer. Hamilton should've had two pens in the first half, Ref was very poor

That's being very generous to Southern. Hamilton destroyed them in the first half. Southern didn't come close to having a shot on goal. Meanwhile Liam pulled off some stunning stops to save total embarrassment.
The Wanderers midfield ran rampant. Southern played 433 first half but the wingers were playing as genuine forwards, and with Rahan disappointing it left two midfielders unable to cope with Hamilton's big strong fellas. Their captain Hayes & teammate were running the show.
That first half genuinely looked like men vs boys.
Second half more even but clearly after the penalty (which did look debatable) they were clearly just cruising.
Very worrying signs for Southern after the highs of last season. Looked like no tactical strategy, and fitness & strength looked a mile off.

Hawkes Bay were absolute garbage.
Team Welly were direct at times with several balls from defence over the top missing out the midfield. Declan only had a couple of rants to his players demanding they hit it behind the opposition quicker.

But they were clinical in finishing and exposed the 3/4/3 formation that Suburbs want to play,with their defences at sea and a keeper who thinks he is a Centre back. 1pm kick off on a blazing hot astro turf not ideal either.

The oldest guy playing despite being bald and sunburnt after playing on that turf was 25 and not 30. He was only playing because the first team coach wanted to get him fit by giving him 90 minutes as their striker from PNG is away on international duty in the next few weeks. Whilst Marc Evans played well Hamilton were so far on top they would have won easily even with out him. People under estimate this Wanderers youth team: they can play out from the back and they can stretch and catch the opposition out by always looking to play forwards ( ie quality of possession not quantity of possession, and always looking to do something positive with the ball ) Everybody in this youth team squad except for three can play in this league next year. Their coach Michael Built has got them playing attractive football whilst at the same time playing smart and for most of the time they play with a high intensity and tend to take the right options.

Agree, they were far better and as I said, exploited what appears to be a formation that is not working for Suburbs. Having two Senior league players on a pitch full of 16 and 17 year olds must surely have some influence on a game and the way the team plays? I am not arguing that they should not do it as the rules allow it, I just prefer to see promising youth players get game time in a very short league, over senior Stirling Sports Premiership players.
