Better than Ryan, now that is a big call. I think you're also forgetting that Tyler did score goals for Waikato and Melville, throw David Browne into the Nix environment and he could fail to score as well - nobody knows.

Having seen a decent amount of both of them, I'd say Ryan Thomas is the better all-round player, and it's actually not that close for mine. But Browne definitely has just as bright a future

i think that, at his age, getting the minutes that he is getting for auckland isn't too bad an effort.  you wonder how he'd go in a team like waibop, where he'd get more minutes, but wouldn't have the ball served to him on a plate like the auckland city midfield can do

In my opinion, this guy is the next big thing. Granted he could be in a situation where he looks better than he does because he is in a good team but I don't think that's the case. He makes players that are older and more experienced look silly with ease and has gas to burn. He should be getting more minutes than he is and I have no doubt he'd play 90 mins at every other franchise in the league.

I'm going to nominate Adam Cowan. Was a very consistent high performer for Manawatu for many seasons and is currently at TW last I heard. Can be a bit of a hot head but assumed responsibility as captain at Manawatu admirably. Is getting on a bit nowadays but could be worth a punt in a pro environment.

Yeah Cowan is a real left field one and along with others, disagree.

He offers versatility and graft but lacks composure (and you can throw in the 'plays through his emotions') and has a terrible tackling technique to the point he would spend more time off the park than Burns and Manny combined. Fit as fuck and he would run all day for you though.

When I look at captains, Dura is good because he never let's his emotions dictate how he plays. Ivan is the same at ACFC in that he might get fucked off and T off, but won't go launch into the next tackle taking out everything including the spectators. Cowan is like Coombes in that respect that if he feels aggrieved, he takes it out on opponents rather than lead by example.
