Serious questions guys, do you think the fact these ACFC players have moved to the Phoenix will mean more ACFC supporters will now follow/support the Nix, when before they might not of?

I think that's only natural, every sides supporters tend to keep an interest in players who move on. Good luck to Krishna, he will be missed. Probably allow Browne more game time so not such a bad thing for ACFC. I see you've also signed a young Croatian striker from the VPL. I'd watch your back Brockie, might have to start watching what's going on in the game.

And to be fair, Krishna is more Waitak than ACFC.

I was told this when I asked a similar question.

I'm actually not too sure why people from ACFC are surprised at their players leaving/being signed. Its not like the Phoenix are going to go raid Otago, HBU, WaiBop. YHM etc.... They have been the better performed club over a sustained period of time similarly of Waitakere. Its only natural you are going to go after those players....

The only reason I'm mildly surprised is that Ricki always overlooked the ASBP. The players always had the ability but it is only now with Ernie that he recognises and can develop these players.

My only problem with Krishna going is we are going to rely a lot on Tade as our main striker and if he gets injured it leaves us a bit light in finishing power. Don't think Turner or De Vries are at that level. We've always tended to have a two prong attack, like Jordan and Young. I think we'll need to sign a back-up for Tade unless Browne can step up. We need another Paul Urlovich.

Maybe we need to check out the A-League to see if there's anyone with the ability to step up to the ASBP and then sign them.

Rory Turner is definitely not at that level. Go ask Bale what he thinks of him.....

De Vries.... I'm not sure the ACFC game plan suits his strengths. He likes to run with ball at feet with space. ACFC are a pass first team and get in behind the back 4 for the cut backs and trailing strikers. Not his game at all.

Happy for the players but won't make me support the Phoenix. I wish the players could have earned a decent crust playing in the ASBP so they didn't need to move.

I agree that Krishna is more Westie than City BUT he got spotted at City. Not sure about Hicks - don't remember him having more than about 2-3 games for City.

Surprised you haven't done so earlier.  Probably can offer them more.

yep agreed - i think it's a good piece of business, it's low risk - and to be honest this is a rebuilding year so if he tanks and the nix don't make playoffs then it's no big deal - if he is good then we sign him up to a longer deal.

My thoughts were more like the Phoenix morphing into Auckland City 'B' team.

Not that I've seen. Maybe that Albanian lad at the Roar might get a trial.

Maybe we should look at Clapham as an attacker, but then that would take Canterbury out of the competition and I like having them challenging for honours.

^ Personally I'm quite happy with what we've got up front - Tade, Browne, Darren White, de Vries. Maybe not so much Turner. But let's see what's in the Yoof.

for me,krishna was a good replacement for souto, without krishna or souto, auckland are lacking the quality that they usually have up front

that's not to say that they cannot win this league in a canter, but assuming they qualify for the next club world cup, they will need to fill that hole
