i think your just taking it too seriously - it's a poor piece of banter from the two ACFC fans and the ACFC twitter page retweeted it as a bit of a laugh - after all twitter is a bit of a informal way of communicating.

FYI - in my opinion people dismiss generally insulting behavior as banter when it's in their favour and get upset when it's not - can't have it both ways..

Correct - banter.

I just watched the highlights on YouTube - WOW. Where did they find that referee from? Jesus.... ACFC could have been 6-0 and tie would have been done and dusted. If you lose up there, you guys have every right to claim you were hard done by. I count 2 pens missed and they should have been with 10 men in the 1st half.

We tend to get a bit of a rough ride from the Pacific Island referees in the O League. I guess there's some resentment of NZ being top dog and all that (read anti-colonialism etc). We all know it's apparent, we're just not allowed to openly talk about it. It's just something we have to put up with. As you saw JV, we should have had two penalties. Fortunately Tade's breakaway last minute goal probably handed the tie to ACFC and allowed a reasonably fair reflection of the proper scoreline. We just have to watch out in Tahiti as the reverse will now apply.

Brilliant interview with Arthur Egan, ACFC kit man and life member of NZF & AFF, looking back on his 10 years with the Club, plus earlier years with the All Whites (meeting Pele in the '82 Seville dressing rooms/dinner with Muldoon, etc. etc.)

So the Nix have finally signed McGlinchey, a quality pick up I must say. With this Spanish chap Gorrin in the mix as well it's possible the result might be closer if ACFC repeat it's pre-season friendly and let the Nix run out at Kiwitea Street again. Talk of course is ACFC going for a preseason with the Roar this time but hey, we should let your Spaniards have a crack at our Spaniards again. Here is an objective question

How do you guys fancy yourself against a full strength Brisbane side (and I know they no longer have the nutter up front)

Grumpy old bastard alert

Could be a very different team next season ....

Why? Will there be changes limiting the amount of ESOL players you are allowed?

Au contraire - Ramon's coming bck from Espana with a full team of Barca B/C/D & E recruits.

Would be good to find out - O League champion versus the A League champ. Probably a draw.

Just because Feneridis threw his toys out the cot and Dicko had a huff doesn't count. I'd take Andy Milne, Sammy Burfoot and David Browne any day.

In what way does it not count? A usual you make no sense at all
What about Bale? Does he not count? Or Mulligan or Coombes?

Mulligan and Coombes? How far back are we going? I think Ramon had a good mix this season of young, old, Kiwi and overseas. Every year all the ASB teams change their line ups. ACFC are just lucky that Ramon can bring in good imports to back up the home grown players

Pity Blue you obviously didn't speak to Dicko our Feneridirs before posting this. Alex has been at kiwitea st far longer than you. .....so at least have a little respect. As for Brown and Burfoot. They're good and should do well in the future but Brown has been unnecessarily underplayed as it would show up less than ordinary imports. As was the case in the final or did your blinkered glasses miss that part?

I didn't see the final but I can agree with your POV regarding Browne and Burfoot.

Don't think Brown was underplayed. He has only just come back from a shoulder operation and was out for the best part of the season!

You missed a cracker then JV. Marshy reckoned it best game he'd seen at Kiwitea in 5 years.

You're right Spud, didn't get a chance to talk to Alex or Dicko before they left. But I did speak to some in the know. Also, I've been a supporter of ACFC from day one - which makes it longer than Alex was a player. I have a lot of respect for players like Andy Milne who bide their time on the bench then give everything for the club and Jimmy Pritchett who have shown enormous loyalty through thick and thin.. Browne is still young and a developing player so I don't get your "underplayed" rap. He is also coming off a bad shoulder injury. I expect to see a lot of him next season.

If indeed Alex has left the club, and I'm sad if he has, then more fool him.

Right, you all knew this was coming:

16/12/09: ACFC 3-2 TP Mazembe

ergo ACFC = Champions of Africa

28/9/13: ACFC 1-0 Phoenix

29/1/14 WHU 0-0 Chelsea

3/2/14: Manchester City 0-1 Chelsea

23/7/14 Phoenix 2-1 WHU

ergo ACFC = EPL champions

2/7/11 CCM 1-0 Celtic

28/9/11 ACFC 3-1 CCM

7/11/12 Celtic 2-1 Barcelona

ergo ACFC = Champions of Scotland, Spain, Europe, The World and F*&KING EVERYWHERE!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My logic is irrefutable...

Both playting for WU this season

That spices things up a bit. Shame is we had a clever song we used to sing for Alex concerning his Greek heritage. He'll miss that. Expect great things from Burfoot, Milne and Brown for ACFC next season. Good to see John Irvine turn out for Central United on Sunday, he'll be another linchpin for City. Also tip Mario Ilich to have a good season.

Seems like the kind of player Nix B would be interested in. Whether that feeling is reciprocal is another story.

interesting comment that - this is not anti-acfc. I have an actual question.

How many players who had never been pro before have signed a pro contract after their performances at the CWC?

I'm just trying to figure out which path actually offers the best chance at a pro contract.
