Vader you are spot on about Tade being a first class moaner but hes led by Berlanga and i know he's the captain but moan he does about every opposition tackle but Bilen and Riera are not far behind. They seem to think they themselves do nothing wrong and that every tackle or decision that goes against them is unjust.Mind you Ivan the God Father was a good moaner on the pitch as well just ask Brian Shelly so maybe its the culture coming out of this club at the moment.
Hong Kong Lunar Cup for Auckland City:
That's going to contribute to Auckland packing in a lot of games in February and March which could be their undoing, especially if they get hit by injuries.
I noticed that they were missing a few regulars like Iwata and White vs. Canterbury on Sunday. Were they resting them or were they injured?
"Auckland City FC were scheduled to face Southern United on January 29 at Kiwitea Street then Hamilton Wanderers away on February 1 midweek.
With the Navy Blues now headed to Hong Kong for the third time in just two months those fixtures have now been rescheduled to Wednesday February 15 (Hamilton Wanderers) and Wednesday February 22 (Southern United).
This creates something of a fixture logjam for the club with no less than nine games in the next 29 days."
Auckland City already were scheduled to complete their regular season earlier than the other clubs (on March 5) to accommodate the OFC Champions League where the group stage for Auckland runs March 11 to March 18 in Auckland (three group games)
SS Premiership semis: 25, 26 March
SS Premiership Final: April 2
OFC Champions League semis (two legs): April 8, April 15
In the 21 days from February 26 (AFC's second-to-last SS Premiership match) to March 18 (their last game of the OFC Champions group round) Auckland will play five games.
From 26 February to April 15 (OFC Champions second semi) Auckland will play nine games (if they make the semis of both comps and the SS Premiership final).
Surely there must be a reasonable amount of prize money on offer in the Hong Kong tournament with all expenses paid, or why jam up your fixture schedule to the possible detriment of your club?

they've been rotating their squad, Moeira and Dae Woo Kim didn't play against Team Wellington, Tade sat out the Tasman game

Meh, that's probably just them juggling their Overseas spots ;)
As cultured as Che Bunce's left foot and as profilic as John Lammers
Ramon is a big fan of rotation. Likes to make sure none of his players get complacent.

No Howieson appearance yet, not even on the bench.
Wouldnt be surprised if Auckland illegally tapped him up while he was signed to TW, and TW invoked the 4 week stand down period.

Great result for the club but how many Kiwi's started ? None, but still great result from amateur club!!!!!
Take another bow Ramon. We're gonna lose him and long after he's gone from li'l ol NZ we're gonna look back on what he achieved here with amazement.

They are also a month-plus out from their season starting, but hey.
This whole standing over the ref nonsense is not only cringy it's downright embarrasing.

Actually, FC Seoul were using the Hong Kong tournament as preparation for their first 2017 AFC Champions League game on February 20, only three weeks away. This is followed by a second AFC Champions League game a week later.
So they would have been really fit and quite advanced in their season preparation.
A very good achievement for Auckland in beating the current Korean champions (won the K-League in November) and last year's AFC Champions League semi-finalist (October last year). FC Seoul won the AFC Champions League in 2013.
Most pundits over the last decade would rank the K-League as the second best in Asia after the J-League.
FC Seoul's squad is valued at 12.83 million Euros on tranfermarkt.com. They paid 2 million Euros for some of their players.
Of the current squad, their current Montenegro international striker Dejan Damjanovic was their record signing for 2 million euros in 2008, along with South Korea international left-back Chi-Woo Kim, also signed for 2 million Euros in 2008.
Former Arsenal, Monaco and Celta Vigo striker Park Chu-Young came on against Auckland in the second half. Arsenal signed him for 3.4 million Euros in 2011 after about 100 games in three successful seasons with Monaco in Ligue 1 (who'd bought him from FC Seoul for 2 million Euros in 2008).
Hong Kong champions Kitchee that Auckland beat in the tournament final must be half decent too because they won their qualifying games in the AFC Champions League in the week before playing Auckland and are through to a play-off against Ulsan from Korea next week to reach the main draw.

Howieson started against Kitchee in the final win.
Berlanga was out injured after breaking his nose in the FC Seoul game and having surgery. He'll miss at least a few weeks of Auckland's upcoming games, maybe a month or more.
Darren White missed the final due to work commitments back in Auckland.

Howieson of course can start in the moon fun cup while serving his local stand down period, which still has either 1 or 2 games to go.

Fuck this stupid game
Just came back from the Wednesday lunchtime match between Auckland City and Southern at Kiwitea Street 3-1 to the Navy Blues Howieson looked good on debut excellent goal too top finishes from Lewis and Tade too. Probably should have been a couple of red cards in the first half after a foul on Lewis started a scuffle where punches were clearly thrown also happy to see Southern get a deserved consolation right at the end.
If you are an Auckland supporter I congratulate you on the fact you have two eyes, not one. I'm a Southern man and I thought Lewis had a very good game - high energy as well. The handbags were, in my opinion, the ref's fault. He let a clear foul go on Mulligan and so then Ledwith took a bit retribution on Tade (although it was an Auckland counter as well), which the ref missed. Then Ledwith fouled Lewis, it was a hard challenge but not even a yellow in my eyes - Lewis howled but he's dished plenty of that stuff out himself. He needs to suck it in. Tade took exception to the foul, acted like a plonker and decided to have a go. He should have gotten a red, but the ref didn't know the rules. And then Furlong had a go back, and he should have seen red as well. Tough on Southern that re-scheduled fixture, several lads just unable to get time off mid-week. The benefits of being a semi-pro side are with Auckland for sure. But can they be gotten to by the likes of ES, TW and HB? Those three can be pretty physical and, judging from today's performance, I wonder if some of the Auckland boys have the composure to deal with that.

I did think the scheduling was a little unfair on Southern having to bring a depleted squad to Kiwitea Street it would have been sensible to move the Waitakere vs Auckland City game to today and have it under the lights at Trusts Arena and then Southern come up to Kiwitea on Sunday.
Home Court advantage even when playing away.

Interesting list about Auckland City. Ramon has his UEFA Pro Lic
Very very lucky vs Western United today 2-1 winners late goals to Darren White and Emiliano Tade (From the penalty spot) prevented an embarrasment.
