So who is playing off against Havelock for a place in the league to take over from Wainui. First game next weekend, but nothing on Capital website yet unless TBC is a new Club
Thanks mate - with all the things not going on at the moment, had lost track of where you guys were. Island Bay v Wgton Utd could be a good one to watch
We are now in 2nd place and will stay there for the next week
Thus the season goes another week deeper... and so
Wellington United now MUST BEAT Upper Hutt City next Saturday 2:30pm at Maidstone Park to take second place and earn the Central league playoff space... and there is further complication because as a consequence of today's other results Upper Hutt now lay 8th, even with Olympic on points but below them on the table due to goal difference, and if Havelock North win the Central League playoff Upper Hutt could be relegated from Cap Prem via a playoff match with Vic University unless they secure at least a draw in their game next week against Wellington United...
Its all up for grabs!
BTW Lower Hutt City defeated Stop Out 2-0 to take the league and conclusively end Stop Out's hopes of taking second spot
So Upper Hutt lost 4 straight at the end of the 2020 and missed the title by 4 points and likely promotion, and how could be relegated the season after. Crazy turnaround. Has their squad changed much?
Nice to see it streamed - I've noticed clubs have really picked up with this over the course of the season! Next season we can hopefully have at least one game from each league streamed each week!
If all fit and playing, Groot, Stewart, Barclay, Christensen, Chapman, Lucas, that I'm aware of. Plenty left from few years ago when last in CL. But definitely a stronger side now.
Havelock North prevailed over Wellington United 3 -1 to qualify for the Central League next year. Fine sunny day with a bit of wind blowing down the pitch. Local derby with NCR will be eagerly anticipated. Hope that Havelock can stay up this time.
Have to say with the how both NCR and Havelock have gone this year and if squads stay largely the same it could be Havelocks best chance to beat them ever.
North Welly clubrooms up for sale. More spending in 2022? https://www.bayleys.co.nz/3254032
Looks like they have already dipped into this. Some kind person(s) has already loaned the club $50k as per the 2020 year end financials. My understanding for sales proceeds is that 90% goes to the building of the new Clubrooms facility and 10% is shared between The Football Club and The Softball Club. Therefore if they get $2M then $1.8M will go to the new Clubrooms and The Football and Softball will get $100k each. The way North Wellington spend it will vanish in no time if it hasn't already.

$3.1m sale
So they will get $155k less $50k from loans advanced which leaves $100k. Less sales and legal costs and then subtract the $100k odd that they claimed as a Wage Subsidy during the first Covid lockdown for multiple employees and which is doubtful that they were entitled to.

Yeah doubtful about the council getting a % of the sale? Sounds weird. I thought NWs share of new council building cost was about a million?
Well if what you say is the case then I stand corrected. My recollection is that the arrangement with the Council was for 90% of sales proceeds to go towards the new clubrooms.

Was actually 500k by the looks - so they should come out around a million to the good to pay off debts
The $50k loan came from key management personnel (kmp) so for most clubs that is President or Chairperson who can influence/make decisions. It was though at a generous 5% (vs mkt rate '19-'21 of 1-2%). So these kmp having put the club into cashflow crisis over several years of overspending get a high return and risk-free personal investment with this loan and then spent more club funds, $25k+ on city lawyers to strongarm the property sale through. No wonder then the last 2 years accounts have audit concerns raised.whatever
