With The Central League team now named Wellington Phoenix and the Capital Premier team named Lower Hutt, does this mean that if Lower Hutt wins Capital Premier, they qualify for the Central league playoff?

No cos an MOU still exists The Cap Prem team must be the one in the Chatham Cup?
I would hate to be an away team at Fraser Park. I've watched at least a dozen games as a neutral spectator over the past year or so as I live nearby and the bias from the officials towards the Nix Academy borders on criminal.
It doesn't help the cause that it seems the whole team has been trained to b**ch and moan about every single decision made by a ref. Every time one of them gets touched in anything even resembling a tackle they fall over and scream blue murder at the refs. The saddest part of it all is that the loudest voices seem to be the ones from the dugout, Greenacre is an absolute shocker and some of the garbage that comes out of his mouth is an embarrassment for an ex professional footballer. I have heard Fallon is no better either.
It's a damn shame because some of these kids can really play. Is this how the future Phoenix players are being taught to act? I understand they're in an ultra competitive environment and trying to make it to the next level, but the ego levels need to be brought down a peg or two.
I can believe every bit of this. Saw them end of last year in the SCS against Miramar and though I can't speak to seeing much from the players, Greenacre in particular and the other academy staff were terrible and never stopped abusing the officials - they weren't just questioning the occasional decision, it was a constant barrage of abuse when anything didn't go their way. They behaved like children. A really bad look for the only pro team in NZ.
I'd honestly go to the point of suggesting it's a club-wide problem with Talay and Giancarlo pretty bad perpetrators as well, but I suppose that's a whole nother can of worms.
Top of the table clash between Miramar Rangers and Wellington Olympic on at the moment.
Bloody decent game so far too. Jesse Randall's tidy finish has just been cancelled out by a brilliant Hamish Watson 30 yarder! Good advertisement for the Central League this one.
Went to watch Mirimar v Phoenix Academy on Saturday. Cracking game won by Mirimar 2-1. Also the half time score. I would argue the correct result although the Phoenix had their chances. Mirimar hit the bar mid send half with a great strike that deserved a goal. Great battle between Hamish Watson and the young centre backs.
Interesting to see Ukuk Talay arrive for the second half and sit on the end of the Phoenix bench.
Referee crew all female with Anne-Marie Keighley in charge. Also Sarah Jones from the FIFA Assistant list as senior assistant. Thought they had a very good game.
Actually this was the second game in a row watching the young Phoenix. Couple of very useful prospects, especially at left back and left wing.
Have to comment on one thing mentioned on this thread some weeks ago and the Phoenix coaching staff, especially Chris Greenacre. In 180 minutes he never once raised his voice at a match official or complained. He is constantly yelling out but it was all instructions and encouragement for his players. There was on the odd occasion a decision that went against his team. There will be in every match at any level. But his comments were only ever audible to his staff or someone just behind the benches as I was and always with appropriate language. If there was a problem with them, then they have clearly read this forum and acted to improve or someone has said something to the same effect. Over the two games, if their was an inappropriate coach it was the Mirimar head. He was frequently on the officials backs moaning about something and everything. His players were far from spared his wrath either. I found his voice and tone to be destructive rather than encouraging and certainly would not enjoy playing for him
Wellington United beat Havelock North Wanderers 4-1 away Olympic currently 10-1 up over Wests (still going!) makes last couple of weeks very interesting at bottom of table
HNW all but relegated with their loss to Petone and Wellington United's win over NW. They would need to beat Olympic in their last game and have West's pick up no more than 1 point in their last 2 games.
Wellington United picked up form when they needed. 3 wins in their last 5 games and scored 9 of their 20 goals in the last 2 games.
Bit tough for HNW. 12 points would have seen them avoid relegation in every Central League season since 2006 except one (2020). But then I look at their awful logo and suddenly I don't feel too bad.
And would also be enough to stay up in the Northern League or Southern League!
Sad to see them go down but 3 wins in 18 games isn't really good enough to say you deserve to stay up. If they're good enough they'll find their way back anyway, and if not... well that's football.
The Round 17 clash between Wellington Olympic AFC & Miramar Rangers scheduled for Wednesday 24 August will now take place on Friday September 23 with details to be confirmed.
Crazy to me this title decider is now going to take place almost a month after the final round games, got to be a reason for it.
A guy i work with is a bit of a karori supporter and he heard the wellington united coach (guillermo sp?) from last season is odds on for the karori job. Someone from wellington college linked with it too. I'm guessing most cl coaches will carry on in 2023? Tyler
I hear the Wellington United and Karori coaches have moved on? Might have some different looking teams out there?
