No coach and players who are loyal to the coach therefore have to rebuild a team. Just a guess

Yes would be the suitable option. When this happened with Team Taranaki back in 2018 (I think it was) Havelock North got the late call up after losing the play off.

Stood down as Chariman, can imagine that job being super tough as a volunteer - especially during a pandemic.

Bloody good stuff. A bit of regional flavour never hurt nobody.

Spent plenty of time spent at Wembley Park kicking a ball around as a kiddo while Nana watched over us boys. Brings back some memories that one.

Hope they do themselves and the region proud in the Central League.

Silly though that Whanganui went unbeaten in the central fed league and still needed to do a playoff against Stop Out to go up... doesn't make much sense.

If NZF really want such an open football pyramid, how about opening promotion and relegation up to truly reflect that - two relegations each year, Capital Premier and Central Fed champions both promoted. Would be excellent for supporting regional footy as well. Funnily enough with the Wairarapa and WU withdrawals its ended up that way anyway.

The quality of teams in the central football fed league is... variable. That's not a critique so much as reality. I am not conviced there should be a guaranteed spot - but 1v2 in each respective divison might be a fun way to promote two teams.

Interesting. Any news of where Scotty is going?
Or was he simply replaced due to their relatively poor national league showing?

Seen some people saying Western Springs, who still haven't announced a coach since Zorocich left to the NPL in Australia

It's on the twitter that he is going to western springs as head of Mens football. Just out of interest how much does a gig like that pay?

Hard to say, but would have to be decent enough to encourage a move to Auckland. Mind you, Welly isn't exactly a cheap place to live either.

As a comparison, Auckland United had a Club Manager role advertised during last season with an approximate pay of $60k p/a. Obviously they are different roles within a club, but there might (should!) be a bit of money on the table for Scotty.

All said and done, good luck to him.

Kailan Gould off to Preston Lions (NPL Vic 2) by the look. Nothing confirmed by Preston yet, but he played for them last weekend in a pre season match. Socials location has him in Melbourne too.

Time for a 2023 Central League thread?

That curtains for Miramar as a top National League level club? If the US uni guys like Gatkek and Barnett don't play, then could be tough. Olympic looking like they'll take Central League in the same direction as City have up here in Northern League.

So great to see the community spirit of a club like Olympic drawing in all  these players, clearly attracted by the chance to coach youth teams.
