Is it true that a heap of Karori players are going to Wests?

I think the Wests/Ole coach is trying to get anyone and everyone because I've heard a few are leaving. The recurring theme is that they don't like the coach.

Haven't heard much by the way of signings out of Central League, but here's one - Oli Colloty to Olympic.

Kailan Gould leaving Olympic as well, but unsure of the destination.

Anyone with the inside word though? Looking at you shambles. 👀

Honestly no idea! I tried going into Sir Breadwins to get the inside scoop from old mate but he's a locked box. I didn't even know Cawley was leaving till I saw he had signed over in Perth. I think teams are starting preseason either this or next week so we should see movement after that.

Oscar Faulds joining NCR having arrived in the country from Sweden. Formerly of the Brommapojkarna youth setup + Hudiksvall FF & Stofors AIK over in Sweden.

Simon Chretien who was going to turn out for Napier has signed for IFK Luleå in Sweden. The big drawcard of that deal no doubt - facing Allsvenskan champions Malmö FF in the Svenska Cupen later on in February.

Jesse Randall making his return, too.

A Randall-Colloty-Wilkinson front three is unreal (especially as a NZ under-23 trio), and that’s just the new guys…

9 months of football to get another Auckland City vs Olympic/Team Wellington NL final. Every season bar one since 15/16. Who will realistically stop them?

Arguably made worse by players being non-pro, given clubs have no power to stop the big boys taking their best players. Makes sense; if you're going to get the same pay* anywhere, might as well play with the team that will win and go to overseas tournaments.

Madness.

I said they had to go big to replace Bouzoukis up front, but that's exceptional to pick up those three. There'd be an Auckland A-League side who would do well to recruit a NZ born front 3 like that...

It will be the allure of a potential OFC spot and a trip to Tahiti. If they don’t qualify (god forbid!) or players think they aren’t going to get immediate game time, then they will drop off and join other clubs before the window shuts.

As an Olympic stan, that’s why I loved watching Joe Hopper and Gavin Hoy last year. They stuck it out, earned spots and contributed heaps. Both of them could have walked into any other side and played every week. I reckon players like that are worth their weight in gold because they keep the coaches preferred XI in check.

Starts 30th March (Easter weekend). Which is an odd decision imo.

(25th was last year's start date)

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Northern League starts the weekend prior (23rd/24th) while the CL and SL start on the 30th. Assume that's down to the NL having 12 teams while the others have 10 each.

Adam Supyk to Olympic.

Stacked!

Seems as though trials with Brentford, Stoke & Ipswich over in the UK didnt come to anything for the lad.

Will be interesting to see how this Olympic side will line up. Could go with the famed 2-5-3 formation that seems to be all the rage in A-League fantasy points circles...

Jonty Roubos , hes returned to Olympic after a season with Miramar

Will be interesting to see how everyone is kept happy! Current attacking roster is Watson, Nguyen, Prins, Sinclair, Roubos, Randall, Rudland, Davies, Thurston and perhaps Gould.....some serious firepower there and not sure how many of them will be ok to sit on the bench for an extended period or play Cap Prem. Post the March playoff reckon quite a few may move to other clubs

Pretty sure they have Eddie Wilkinson in from Chch United too. Pretty stacked team. Feeling like Ifill is aiming to play the 0-0-10 formation!

Hope they all realise that even if they beat ACFC in the NZ playoff, and then go on to win the OFC Champions League, is no FIFA Club World Cup (moving to a 4 yearly event) for them.

The next edition of the CWC is in 2025, and ACFC is already confirmed as OFC's entry.

Best Olympic can hope for is yes winning the OFC Champions League, and then entry into the new FIFA Intercontinental Cup (to be an annual comp).
That would initially mean a one off playoff in Africa somewhere against the CAF Champions League winners. Win that and then play AFC Champions League winners.

not bad, a trip to a pacific for the OCL and win that get a trip to Africa or Asia (it will alternate between which confed).

The new "intercontinental" cup is effectively the old Club World Cup that Auckland City used to qualify for. Do well enough in the OCL over 4 years and you get to the new Club World Cup

Be interesting to know how the FIFA dosh compares, qualifying for the new Intercontinental Cup is compared to the old Club World Cup. Remember reading is going to be some huge cash around the new 4 yearly CWC.

Presumably whichever NZ team (if is a NZ team from OFC) qualifies every 4 years, will have to share the cash with NZF and/or other National League clubs. Was bit easily for NZF to regulate the split of that CWC cash when was the same 8-10 teams in the old Handy Prem
