Hmmm, not sure if this is true or not, but I'm sure Bill would realise any consequences involved. Playing devils advocate, maybe HBU have let him and the players down by the decisions made in the last 6 months or so. You only get one career and if he has an option to play O-League or stay at a club that lacks ambition, then I'd go. If he ended up at WaiBop or Canterbury for instance, then it would be hard to understand his reasons.

Have a look at your second to last sentence - I think that if he ended up elsewhere, it ould be easy to understand why

Here was playing here when we weren't that good. He also was jerked around when he signed for Waitakere a couple of years back for their O League campaign. So he would know more than many what the story is. It will be very interesting where all of this leads.

If that is true, many of them will not be playing football for anyone else this year either. Players at this level can't afford to sit out a season of their own accord - they would find it very hard to get a gig the following year I'd think.

The decent ones can probably pick up a gig somewhere, which will significantly weaken HBU. The others may reluctantly play, but they will be an average side.

Well if you think about it the majority of the squad came from outside the region so they would probably look to sign for any franchise as travel doesn't seem to be an issue for them. And the HBU squad did so well last year I can imagine other franchises being keen to snap their players up not only for the player, but to weaken HBU.

I think we are always going to rely on talent from outside the region for HBU, in the main we have grabbed players that haven't been wanted or considered by the likes of TW and found some good ones. There will be others out there, be very interesting to see who we get and if Angel can do the business as a coach.

Is the general feeling then that HBU will not be as strong this coming ASBP season as it was last season due to losing too many key players? Would be a shame if that's the case.

It's very confusing as to which direction HBU are heading. From the communication they have put out recently they are now at the point they have been aiming at, namely aligning themselves with Central Football completely. Although they have spoken with most of the players and coaches from last years squad, most haven't been asked back, and some of these are a real surprise. They obviously have a plan (just can't quite see what it is yet) and have had a mass clearout which is surprising as they have obviously done extremely well over the last few years. More strange decisions.

Hey, it isn't okay to rewrite someone's quote (in this case I never said "change of management and f***ing off" in my original post) and putting it back as a "quote" TopLeft07? You want to say such harsh things, don't put it under my name.

Smithy, Hard News, what's the rule on this? This leaves the whole forum open to tremendous abuse of things attributed to posters which they never said.

It did twist my words because it had me slagging off HBU's current management when I didn't say any such thing. It's bullshit and open to a lot of abuse. Is this something you commonly do JV?

If you can somehow link what we're discussing with this observation JV you're even stranger than I take you to be. You have something to say then say it, don't attribute it to someone else who didn't say it. No wonder you and others hide behind monikers. I still say it's bullshit and shouldn't happen.

TopLeft07 clearly has a big issue with the current HBU management but I don't want his foul-mouthed comment attributed to me, any more than I'd want any of your demented attempts at logic/humour/cant attributed to me JV.

May be common, doesn't make it right. This is a public forum, at least if someone goes in and changes a quote and then puts it back attributed to the original poster, there should be a clear delineation of what has been changed. The new post could appear a long time after the original so people don't get to see that because it's too far back in the chain of postings.

How legal is this on a public forum?

Why do you hang out here when your preference is always ACFC first? All you do is basically whinge about the evil Phoenix. This is obviously not the place for you so if you don't like it, you do have the option of going back to your own tumbleweed forum. No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you post here or even sign up here. Its free choice and if you don't like the lay of the land, you have free choice to leave too.

I heard from someone inside the NCR set up that Bill didn't want to play for Brett and offered himself out but there are no takers. I think you will find a big Youth focus from Angell

I heard from someone inside the HBU set up from last year that no one wants to go back because Brett's one week session with the team was absolutely shocking and also the board fucked the team over by losing them 3 points and an historic O-League place after all their hard-work on the pitch....so can't really blame them for not wanting back in

watching_from_far You are either stirring or the source you have is stirring (hopefully the latter). Bill is far too professional to not play because of personal feelings towards a coach. Your 2nd point that Bill offered himself out and there are no takers is also way off the mark. And are you able to tell us why Angell is choosing to focus on Youth?

Lol....just saw this. Apologies to HBU fans for kicking that off. BM I thought you had been around here long enough to know how forums work. Most other people do and they will know it wasn't posted by you. I will think again before engaging any sort of conversation with you on here again, clearly it's too painful. Also, I don't have beef with HBU management, I just know enough HB people who do. If you read back through this thread it's pretty obvious what's going on and I was merely trying to help you with that. Maybe I should have used bullet points.

In the press CG said he was doing alot of the day to day management of HBU so how do we know it was the board that fucked up and not CG?

I am aware of 4 young lads at NCR and other clubs who he has spoken to that he has said to wants to build.

Brett tells it like it is if your shit he will tell you your shit, I think to many of these guys have probably had more smoke blown up there backside then anything and can't take a bit of honesty. I'm not backing them to be winning the league this season but in 2 or 3 maybe close!

Because it was a board member named John (a little ex-jockey guy) who's fault it was and he even went to one of the training sessions to apologise to the players. CG got the all clear to play him (Edge), and then found out a week later John had fucked up. Source: Several HBU players.

And also Brett's sessions were considered shit by the players due to the fact he would talk for 3 minutes, let them train for 20 seconds, stop them and talk for 3 minutes, let them train for 20 seconds, stop them and talk for 3 minutes, let them train for 20 seconds, stop them and...you get where this is headed. at least these 16 players will be able to have a good break over the summer and be fresh for winter season then. I would have thought the better players would have gone whether CG was still involved or not the 2 or 3 that went Auckland and wiatake for O league plus the more average ones that are in Auckland playing for forrest hill now.

I have seen Brett work a number of times and not all his session were like that, but yes some were. There has to be sessions like this so they know what they what he wants them to do.

At the end of the day if they don't want to play for him they don't have lets hope they are not on 2 year contracts.
