Congratulations HBU on making the final!

Not surprised that you made the final, just that you were down 2-1 after the home semi.

Good luck against ACFC - they are playing really well!

Never doubted them... ahem......

I'm quite stunned they are in the final. If they are the second best team in the country, I'll eat my hat.

They surprised a lot of people to be fair. They looked like a shambles last winter but they got a decent team together and did the business. NCR looking sharp too

Fuck this stupid game

Anyone know who Sean Lovemore is playing his Winter footy for? if hes playing at all?

That would make sense, just head he had moved to Bay before the ASB season so thought he may play for a central side.

Waiting to be called up as Nix injury replacement.

He does already have the shirt on his wall at home

Nope.

Coach Matt Calcott has secured the services of Waitakere United trio Jake Butler, Chris Bale and Alex Carr, Hawkes Bay United striker Sean Lovemore, Southern United forward Tom Jackson and Wellington Phoenix fullback Justin Gulley.

Bret Angel has re-signed for another year as coach,he said there will be squad changes but wants to re-sign as many of last years squad as possible.

Could do worse than signing the entire NCR squad!

Despite plenty of doubters, Brett did an amazing job last year...

I don't rate him but you can't deny he got results.

On what basis do you not rate him?

I must admit to having my doubts when he was appointed last year, but I guess you can only judge him on his results and he did well.

The only negative I have with Brett is his antics on the sideline - at times very embarrassing and totally unnecessary.

Will be interesting to see what the like of Biss and Neil do after moving away last season and whether he will try and sign them.

What will Bill Robertson do? or do you think he might have retired from Premier League?

...depends how much ca$$$h we can get together to compete with the poachers!

I think Ferg's situation was a bit more unique/'complicated' - but not sure. Just ask him, he'll tell you.

Also though you can't blame the players when teams in the O-League come knocking.

But surely, surely, if we can get our 'A team' together we'd have a great chance at second.

"The Poachers"....

Yeah unbelievable that some other teams may sign your players eh?

Never happen anywhere else in the World that players may move clubs.....

Ok. Um, thanks for your contribution.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve there.

...what I was saying is, if we can prevent as many of the players that get their chance (or sometimes second/third chance) at Hawke's Bay from moving on - how good could we be?

Not disputing or disbelieving that players sign for other clubs.

Anyway.

I wonder if there is (relatively) as much player movement in most other leagues, or does it just seem like more because we're in a smaller pond...

Doubt it. And hopefully not - he's a spring chicken! Also wouldn't expect that he'd be happy going out on an O-League Final loss...especially in the context

Fergus also has a job at Napier Boys High so might not want to leave the Bay again.

Heard they have signed Khair Jones from Palmy North Marist

Tinsley left for Waibop.. hearing rumours HB United have missed out on signing anyone from City Rovers. If true, there is some quality they are going to miss out on.

Must be real dramas with the coach then,a weird situation that they all play in the winter in napier and then held elsewhere for the premiership.

shame about tinsley leaving but on plus side may save some money on fines didn't he get book often last year? Interested to see where neil and biss go as for me they only ones worth signing and they local boys.  The coached managed to pull a team together last year so no reason can't do it again.

Heard they mucked around with Tinsley and he ended up taking the opportunity in Waibop. Pretty positive that Neil has signed with Team Welly.

Biss was pretty key in waitakere's line up last season so would guess he may end up back there

If Miles John doesn't get picked up by Canty United again, he would be a decent signing for HB

I think Miles John has buggered off back to the UK. A little disappointing that HB players are playing elsewhere, same as last year so you'd have to give Brett Angel a fair crack based on what he achieved last year. He did a good job.

Angell getting hard time in press again, similar to this time last year, hopefully he can produce some similar results on the field. Some interesting comments from some of the rovers players who seem to rate themselves highly... Good to see Wilson in the mix he's a good man.

Rumour has it that Sam Mason-Smith and Hamish Watson are signing on. Looks like another season of kicking the ball as far up the pitch as possible if you're a HBU centre half

Only 3 players from last season re signing. Disapointed to see Lovermore leaving, thought he was one of the better players

Yes, I got the impression hat some of those players had a massive chip on their shoulder and expected special treatment. Utmost respect for Danny Wilson who said he was happy to trial for HBU and didn't expect any special treatment - good on him.

Well judging on NCR Chatham Cup Final performance the good people of HB are well used to that style of play.
