Surely if hes not good enough to hold down a squad spot in Hungary he hasn't got a hope in hell in the MLS given he would be taking a coveted foreign spot.

And the article says that Bright was about to sign with Tampere in Finland before coming to Norway where there is the same coach than the one he had when he was playing for kristiansund

Incorrect. The team who agreed a contract with him in Finland was not Tampere & the coach who was at Kristiansund when he was there is not the coach at the Norwegian club he is at now.

What it says is that Kris played with Alexander Midtsian in NZ, who is now at Bryne, and Alexander's father (who was or is the coach of Kristiansund BK) told the coach at Bryne about Kris.

Kris had a trial with Tampere but thy could not reach an agreement in negotiations.

(I think - translating the google translation! :))

Yep it is correct that Alex Midtsians father recommended him to Bryne. Kris did not have a trial with Tampere in Finland who are currently suspended from participating in Finnish football.

Actually it seems that it didn't work with Tampere because of the agent fee
This week the head of New Zealand shown up at Bryne, and he has shown, means that Bryne is interested in capturing 25-year-old with a view to next season.

- He is an extremely good finish and has a high detection rate of terminations, says Bryne coach Tommy Bergersen to Aftenbladet.no

Bright has previously played for clubs from the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, England and Hungary, and he is now klubbls.

His last club was Honvd Budapest, Hungary.

Just before the transfer window closed, he was in Finland to sign the contract with Tampere, but transition stranded at the last minute due to conflicts over the agent's fee.

We follow Bryne: The latest news about the club here

After the transition to Tampere went down the drain, is bright with no club.

Bryne has investigated the possibility of retrieving the player now, but it is difficult to get dispensation to get the club loose players after the transfer window is closed. In other countries it is easier to get the club loose players, and it allows Bright to end up in another club in the fall.

But Bryne want to keep the contract with the player in terms of next season.

- We will have a meeting to hear what plans he has, and where we will also register our interest, says Bergersen.

According to a couple of paragraphs in this article, Kris has signed for Maltese side Balzan Youths:

http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110922/football/Hamstring-injury-downs-Mifsud.385839

"Elsewhere, Balzan Youths are hopeful of getting the all-clear to parade their latest signing, striker Kris Bright, in their clash with fellow promoted side Mqabba on Sunday.

Bright, a 25-year-old forward who has represented New Zealand at all levels, last played for Hungarian club Budapest Honved."

Malta? Now I've seen everything - he truely is a walker of the world!

May be filling in time playing in Malta (tiny country with mediocre league) if it's true he's going to play in Norway next season (too late to sign for remainder of this season which is nearing the end- Norwegian First Div. or second tier runs early April to early November)

Transition window is closed, but Bryne coach Tommy Bergersen does not preclude Bright, as the age of 25 Monday, is Bryne player next season.

What I get from vague tweets from Kris on Twitter is that he's in Malta checking it out: only evidence is a photo of a marina in what is probably Malta- sure aint Norway he's at now...

But Balzan regrouped and came agonisingly close to an equaliser on 32 minutes when from a Fernandes free-kick, Kris Bright saw his dipping header hitting the upright before the Wanderers cleared.

Bright was first to a Fernandes corner. He nodded the ball into the path of Ciantar who stabbed home past Bonello.

New Zealand international Kris Bright has joined Maltese outfit Balzan Youths on a short-term deal.

Former Shrewsbury man Bright has linked up Balzan until December before he makes the move to Bryne FK in Norway in January.

Bright has accepted the offer of joining Balzan so that he can maintain his match fitness prior to the move to Bryne.

The 25-year-old has agreed a pre-contract with Bryne and will join the Norwegian second division side in the New Year.

Bright call-up

Balzan Youths striker Kris Bright has been named in New Zealands provisional squad for the friendly against Canada in London on March 1.

The New Zealand Football Federation have written to Balzan Youths requesting the release of Bright for the period February 27-March 4.

Bright had joined Balzan on a short-term deal in October. He ended his spell with Balzan on a high note after scoring in the 3-2 win over Hibs earlier this month.

The 25-year-old forward has returned to New Zealand following the death of his grandfather.

He is expected to pursue his career with Norwegian side Bryne FK in January.

Balzan Youths, who have already completed the signing of Marsaxlokk midfielder Martin Deanov on an 18-month deal, are in talks to acquire a foreign striker in next months transfer window.
