Bright says only the top three clubs in Finland have big player salary budgets, but he admits he probably earns more than he would command at an A-League club.

He "wouldn't mind coming back to play" for the Wellington Phoenix but his immediate target is a move back to the Football League in England. Bright turned down a good offer from Poland this season because he had an inkling "there might be some interest from England in the next [international] transfer window".

Interesting the source is Bright himself! The transfer window closed a few days ago so will be interesting to see what happens in the next transfer window.

When you are your own source, you can say what you like to talk yourself up. Ifill was doing it when he was resigned. Its common practise with sportsmen. If you talk your value up, then you think you are likely to get more. I'm not saying don't believe it happened but at the very least, considering he is his own source, I'd take it with a pinch of salt considering he was not signed either.

Does anyone know if Bright is making the starting line up since his return from playing for NZ

Quite predictably (considering it was a Friday night game too) an unused sub in Mariehamn's 6-0 away thrashing by league leaders HJK Helsinki, Finland's best, on Saturday:

Former Birmingham, Chelsea and Hannover striker and still a key Finland international, Mikael Forssel scored a brace.

Bright remains out of favour at Mariehamn, not playing a single minute in their four matches since returning from All Whites duty - in their last two games an unused sub in 2-0 away win v Jaro 21/9/13  and in yesterday's 3-2 home win v Honka:

Can't have much chance of making the All Whites if this continues...

Too true - we don't have much depth - but on that argument Rory Fallon would have to be ahead of Bright in the selection stakes, since though he hasn't been appearing much for St Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League ( a stronger league than Finland) the last month - to be fair largely due to injury - he's made more appearances than Bright (marginally) and has played at a higher level than Bright over several years.

He might be a good option to leave on the backburner for Russia 2018 seeing we are a bit short of strikers.

He's just hanging out in Auckland with family and friends until the new year it seems. No mention of any plans for a new club on his Twitter.
But definitely all washed up at Mariehamn (contract ending 31 Dec & not renewed): https://twitter.com/brighty9

Kris Bright ‏@brighty9     27 Oct Very sad to leave and say my goodbyes at the awards dinner last night. Made some great friends in Mariehamn and will stay in touch with many

Its hard not to be honest with some things that happened, but il move on. The club is 1 or 2 people away from easily being top 2 team yearly

Kris Bright ‏@brighty9  27 Oct  We were so close to 3rd, but all the players were great and was a pleasure to see them everyday! Good luck to every1 at the club :)

Wouldn't Kris Bright be at least a short-term striking option for the Nix if the player's back in NZ and available? I don't think either Stein nor Brockie are going to find their scoring boots this season and you need fresh blood up front. Sign Bright in January for the remainder of the season. What have you got to lose?

I really hope we do not sign Bright, he is in my opinion quite an unlikeable person, and isn't good enough at football to compensate for that.

You got those the wrong way round didnt you?
I saw him say number 2, then deny it was anything to do with the nix in subsequent tweets to people.

Allegedly

Yeah, posting a photo on Twitter as he did recently, of the outline of a penis he'd drawn on his sleeping girlfriend's back as she lay on the beach is definitely not classy...

Points to maturity levels Pete. A guy that's had as many clubs as him points to issues.

You are too kind JV. If that is what he did, he is just a low life.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

I would not go that far. It is his girlfriend and they may well have that kind or relationship where they can prank each other - we don't know the dynamic. I certainly would not put it on twitter though. Upstairs for thinking Kris.
