Mighty Western Springs in both men's and women's champs

Looking forward esp. to the Ela Jerez derby against Nix Reserves

Coughlan did that in 10 games...

Only started in eight of those ten games, was subbed on in the other two once back in NZ after being away for around two months. Scored in every game he started - strike rate was - 6, 1, 4, 3, 4, 5, 2, and 1, with 4 of the goals penalties.

Heard they'll be out today or tomorrow.

Napier City Rovers fixtures already leaked and on the Herald:
"The National League draw will see Bluewater Stadium host Western Springs, Wellington Phoenix Reserves, Auckland City and Cashmere Technical. Away from home, they will face defending champions Wellington Olympic, Western Suburbs, Birkenhead United, Eastern Suburbs and Coastal Spirit."

Good for Bluewater Stadium to have 3 teams outside the central league come to town.

I feel like it would be good to use Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup Finals day to promote the National League and release the fixtures

I know there were some issues for the opening round on 28th/29th September due to issues around games scheduled in Wellington due to the rugger test at the Cake Tin between All Blacks and Australia, and limited seats for flights in and out of Wellington and also accommodation, maybe should have had the Wellington teams drawn together that weekend.

unless its Labour weekend during the U-19s again or the same weekend as Mission concert like last season (fortunately  no mission concert this year to clash).

Got told yesterday that the draw is a day or two away from being finalised, so today or tomorrow hopefully. Clubs know who they're playing home and away and have had a provisional draw for around two weeks now.

Those 3 teams being Cashmere Technical, Auckland City & Western Springs. CL visitors are Phoenix Reserves. Away to Western Suburbs for Labour (U19) weekend.

Never mind the draw, I’m looking forward to the announcement of the grand final venue. I bet it will be a surprise location and definitely a neutral venue.
I have horrible opinions

Seriously: assume the final's ACFC vs Olympic. Where would you suggest it be played?

Home ground of the 1st-placed team - Kiwitea Street or Martin Luckie Park.

Wouldn't necessarily say Martin Luckie is Olympic's home ground, but it would be a better place to host the final than Wakefield #2

Might be my Chch bias showing, but Coastal Spirit could shock a couple teams. Had Wellington Olympic 1-1 before their keeper got knocked out.

Ik Cashmere smashed the Southern League but I'll be amazed if they do much in the national league, look at their terrible record against Coastal for starters

I don't think Cashmere Tech will qualify for the grand final, but do believe they'll do better than Coastal in the national league. From what I've seen, Cashmere tend to do well against ball playing teams, and struggle with the physicality of Coastal.

I think Tech will finish 4th/5th/6th, with Coastal below them, even though I think Coastal may beat them in the NL. I believe that game is at Nga Puna Wai, but not 100% sure.

Only seems to be three teams in the Southern League. what a farce of a league. those goal stats mean absolutely nothing when teams are getting mothered regularly by 10 goals.

Tech played their home NL games at Nga Puna Wai last year and English Park the year prior, because Garrick Memorial Park is used for cricket in the summer. Wouldn't surprise me if that was the arrangement again.

Averaging out everyone’s predictions so far, collectively the Forum predicts this is how the league will shake out this year:

1.      Wellington Olympic
2.      Auckland City
3.      Birkenhead United
4.      Western Springs
5.      Cashmere Technical
6.      Eastern Suburbs
7.      Napier City Rovers
8.      Coastal Spirit
9.      Western Suburbs
10.     Phoenix Reserves

EDIT: There were 2 more predictions after this post before the start of the National League season - I calculated them in but they didn't change anything, so this is the final collective predictions for the season.
