As for the ACFC vs Canterbury commentary - c'mon Gavin Searle. Surely a little effort wouldn't be too much to ask? You can't follow the match at all.

If he's from Christchurch then i'm surprised he even knows how to type properly.

Three for me, and two for them.

Give him a break he's probably just been stabbed or raped or both.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

nicely taken by chance by Barron too, after a great through ball from Roddy Brown

was a bit disappointed that we held the ball in the corner after winning two corners in injury time rather than looking for a 2 goal advantage to take up there

but hey if we go through ...

What saussies?

Glad I got one before the match, those went bloody quickly, even with "616" people there

Got two of the last batch just at half time.

I'm amazed the players could walk off, such was the physical nature of the game.  Still, it's not tiddly winks.

also got one of the last snarlers at half-time

so, if we win the final - will we count our contribution as we gaze back 30 years hence as out-running the last of the snags

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Cracking goals today...it has to be said! Barron's and Draper's in particular. Saw Ricki Herbert taking notes and then straight on the phone after Draper's cracker! Bringing him back to Phoenix...?

So how do those who follow NZFC rate TW's chances in the return leg?

I thought as the game wore on Waitakere played a more thoughtful and structured game. Some pretty desperate defence and a couple of good saves by Bannantyne kept the goal advantage.

It looked like the players were pretty knackered by the end - mostly standing still when the ball was being taken up. Not too much running into space or going wide.

seemed like our fullbacks had been told not to press-on and get wide when we attacked - perhaps fair enough given the menace of totori, krishna, pearce and (to a lesser) extent fisher

re our odds of progressing - hhm - really would have liked a 2 goal advantage

then they would have had to come (really) at us, and we did look good on the counter for our third todaytigers2010-04-04 19:48:43

TW might scrape a draw I reckon. I'll go 1-1 and a Final place.

I thought TW #2 (Adam Birch) had a very good first half. Marking tightly and closing down any attack down the left.

He seemed to tire in the second half and there were some very scay runs down that side by Waitak. Speaking of scary, that first half goal by Totori was classy (or the defence was just paralysed at the time).

didn't help that after Little lost the ball he and one of our central mids ran into each other which allowed Tortori to advance towards the edge of the box - but yeh after that
Ben-the-ballboy was unstoppable

I'm wanting a Wellington V Canterbury final but picking an Auckland V Wellington one. Can't see us scoring twice in Auckland.

The only down side is that Waitak had two goals away so if they slot even 1 back at home, it makes taking the tie that much harder.

Muzak? How dare you!!

You think you had problems? At Friday's ACFC-Manawatu game, some mentally challenged fellow came on the field and did karaoke at half time. It was embarrassing. He got a cheer for leaving in mid-song.

Two goal advantage would have been nice.

Heart says TWs can hold on there, but head says that Waitak will probably have a comfortable (2-3 goal) win.

Was he singing Jimmy Barnes? Thats all he knows and he is pretty pish at singing just that. They'd be better off letting the kiddies have a run on the pitch at half time from the famous development program that they have.....

He did three songs before the players kicked him off the field. One of them was the Eagles' "Take it easy" and he screwed the lyrics up altogether. Can't remember the other two - my brain is obviously editing out the horror.

Seriously, ACFC should have a proper mascot to act like a simpleton and entertain the kids at half-time, not an actual simpleton.
