f**ksticks. Just noticed the match has been moved to Saturday. I came up to Tauranga (arrived less than an hour ago) with the intention of seeing Tauranga City v. Ellerslie on Sat then TW v Waitak on Sun (that, and my parents). May or may not come up to Auckland on Saturday, will have to think about it.

I'd consider it if you had some of that E saved up and were ready to share.

Oh boy. Well, let me assure you, I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Unlucky lads... Was a cracking match. Brent Fisher, I love youuuu.  Went absolutely mental after the goal... heroic. Very close, but the away goals get us through. Another all-Auckland final. Possibly don't deserve to be there, to be honest, but there you go. Not a HUGE turn out... But pleased to bits. A few of my City mates were giving me sh*t at the match cos I invited them all to come watch... But away we go!

Good effort though TW, next year we'll see you in the Final

I went up to watch that and see my grandkid. I gotta say TW threw that away.

Waitak were awful in the first 60 mins and really had no idea. Welly had a game plan and executed it perfectly by forcing Waitak to play into the corners with Krishna and Totori who did nothing but look for each other and leave Brent Fisher right out of it (No I in TEAM huh?).

In the second half, the reversal came when Waitak bought on the young boy that scored their first goal. He looks class (edit: got his name, Ryan de Vreis) and it was his sub that turned the game their way because he had pace and ran at our back 4 and created opportunities. This was not helped by some players going awol. Fifii came on early (injury to Jamie Duncan?) but decided to hug the touchline and leave Draper by himself up front and did nothing, Roddy Brown never left first gear and you could hear Charlie Howe ripping him a fresh one every minute and in the last 20, Andy Barron completely disappeared. I think the fact that they used all their subs early didn't help because a fresh pair of legs in the last 15 may have added something. When Brown finally got dragged for Gaz McDermott, they finally had some pace going forward and I thought they should have gone to him more rather than just the route 1 hoof up the middle.

I don't think it helped losing Bale and Jamie Duncan to injury. At least Bale was stopping Butler and Bullock on the ball and choaking the passing lines. I was surprised with Adam Birch because everytime he had the ball, he was getting kicked and getting nothing from the ref and lino and to his credit, he held his composure rather than kick Krishna back. He did look slow at left back however and got to wonder if he is fast enough for LB anymore. Jim was a star and made some huge reaction point blank saves in the second half reminiscent of Moss from season 2.

I think if Wellington had continued with the fast ball forward and the quick counter that they used in the first half, they would have rolled Waitak cause they had no idea on the counter attack at all and looked deathly slow. Heart breaking for Welly because they were the better side and I thought they deserved it more. Maybe this is what they need to steel them for next year? Something about needing to experience the pain and heart break to make you want it more? Waitak are not a champion side and if they play Auckland City the way they did today, they'll get rolled 5 zip.

Well, Waitak aren't normally that awful, to be fair.

But agree with most of that. Welly bottled it when there was pressure. Krishna is class, though, but didn't play especially well in that game. But seriously, HOOOOOOF every time.

I don't know that Krishna did that much. To be objective though about my point of view I wasn't really watching Krishna because I think there is more hype than substance about him. I thought the young kid they bought on has a bit more about him. Probably not as silky (I think silky is the word I am looking for) as Roy but has a bit more on the ball in terms of strength and also a better temperament and work rate. He got up and down the pitch well. Is he South African because he looks like a Pacific boy but is it a dutch last name?

(edit: De Vries, apologies)

de Vries.  Pretty sure he's South African.

Again I'm pretty sure it was him that spent time with the Phoenix during the season.

Not true. How often have you watched Waitakere?

Also, yes, there is alot of hype around Roy. But he is a quality footballer. He's quick, pretty strong given his height and build, and skillful as f**k. He gets the sh*t kicked out of him pretty much every game. Again, he may have had an off day or two, and he gets frustrated pretty easily, but he is class. Did you see the brace he got against TW last year?

And yeah, de Vries is class.
