WOW JAYLEN RODWELL AND WE LEAD NOW
01 Feb 02:54
Great strike.  But finish the one on ones plz!!!   (At least two I’ve seen)
01 Feb 02:59
And another tight offside VAR car... but South Melbourne are really panicking in defence atm, South Island cutting them open very easily
01 Feb 03:05
Double save from van Dijk! This is quickly turning into a potential game of the season...
01 Feb 03:05
Great 3rd goal for SIU and just now Melbourne missed a guilt edged sitter. Good save by VanD.

Another tight offside, VAR team really earning their money today. Goal stands for SMFC and it's 3-3!
01 Feb 03:13
Defending has been pretty poor all game but really impressed with the fitness and energy of these two teams. A lot of transitions and running but very few of them even look tired!
01 Feb 03:22
I missed any mention of the humidity. Any ideas?

South Island United leading! Real mixup from the SM keeper on a long pass and Haris Zeb tucks away from the scrambles. 1-0 and SM looking a bit vulnerable

Not impressed with the celebration afterwards. Something Football in general really needs to clamp down and cut out on. When a guy gets down on his hands and knees and does a full on prayer, Fans don't pay to see that. Spent more time doing that than scoring a nice goal.

Didn't Haris lose a mate in the Christchurch mosque attack? Maybe that celebration was paying respect to them.
He's had alot of tough setbacks - losing friends in that mosque attack, 5 surgeries on his foot - all power to him with his celebration.

Has Muslim football academies in both Auckland his hometown ChCh. Now a Pakistan national team player. If he's a great role model for young Muslim kids in NZ, to play the beautiful game that should be embraced.

Apologies, I knew none of that information so I can understand it.

Finished 3-3. Players are obviously wiped out from the heat but it was a decent enough game. Entertaining? Yes. SIU's 3rd goal was a beauty.

Just a crazy game, very unlike some of the others we've seen in this comp.

Just massive swings in momentum, very poor day from both defences and arguably not the best from the keepers too. Great fitness from both teams but really neither deserved to win or lose.

For South Island some promising signs indeed going forward - felt like this was the game that Zeb, Yoo and Feutz really clicked and at times cut them apart with ease.

AFC take the lead against Tahiti United.  Catastrophic defending.

Reggie Davani offering great insights on the mic. Why did he leave the Nix this year? Back to Aus?

He’s great.  He’s definitely a step up from nz radio jock co-commentator.

Close first half to be fair!
03 Feb 02:50
Not even celebrating goals now.  The arrogance!
03 Feb 02:57
Poor defending letting Tahiti down. This game could get ugly now if they lose their heads.

Finishes 4-0 Auckland.

Didn't even really feel like they got out of 3rd gear either. That was with 8 changes to the starting lineup from their game against PNG too.

03 Feb 05:53
Vanuatu started very brightly here, had all the chances and already opened the scoring. Hekari gotta improve, SI on saturday won't be any earlier and it would be pretty gutting for them not to win at home

Ok.  Crap keeping off a corner, but that’s a cracking header (albeit from three yards out). PNG 2-1  60’.

Can’t be more 1,000 people there.  But the sounds when that goal went in.  An nrl team here could be frightening.
03 Feb 07:08
Don’t wanna be a snob.  But this is the pro league.  Does the png coach really have to dress like a couldn’t care less tradie?
03 Feb 07:16
End to end stuff.  This is the pro league.

Insulting in so many ways.

Yes, you are a snob and likely a poorly dressed one.
Banzai!...AIEEE!!!

Auckland will rise once more

Var check for a late penalty to Vanuatu... huge, huge moment.
03 Feb 07:34
Outside the box by inches
03 Feb 07:36
Total chaos!!!  End to end.
03 Feb 07:38
It was a free kick but there's gonna be a pen now!!! Handball on the goal line! Vanuatu get another late chance
03 Feb 07:43
Penalty confirmed! And a red card for stopping the ball on the goal line!

Owen Smith tucks it away... and it's another draw!!

Of the six games between the island teams, four have ended in a draw with only Bula 1-0 Solomons and Solomons 1-0 PNG ending in a result.

Compare that to their results against the Aus/NZ teams - in seven matches, the island teams have lost every game, scoring just three and conceding 19. This would be such an exciting league if it were just between the island teams but so far it's just AFC, and to a lesser extent South Melbourne, streaking away.

Hopefully that changes soon! Solomon Kings v South Island this afternoon followed by Bula FC v South Melbourne

To be fair, all of the island teams have been close to a result against the ANZ teams! I think its just that on a good day its a very competitive loss and on a bad day it's a thrashing.

For examples btw:
Bula - close 1-0 loss to Auckland where they had a lot of pressure
Vanuatu - pushed SIU hard in a narrow loss
Tahiti - led against and almost drew with SM if not for that late winner
Hekari - 0-0 with Auckland for much of the game

So I think coming in and framing it around 7 games 7 losses and a goal count of 3-19 is a bit disingenous.
04 Feb 02:02
Kings should be 2-0 up over SIU. They muffed a penalty - great save but the follow up let them down. They're really pushing SIU.

04 Feb 02:24
Yep they've been by far the more dangerous side. SI will be grateful for 0-0 at HT
04 Feb 02:25
Kings get a second penalty in 44th minute but then rescinded for simulation (No contact) but no yellow card.

My oh my oh my
04 Feb 02:58
Solomon Kings should feel pretty aggrieved if they don't pick up the three points here. Been the far better side today.

Controlled possession, decent pressing effort, and some good chances created. SIU for the most part have just been hitting long balls, especially in this second half, over a pretty non existent midfield.

Who is the island team again?
04 Feb 03:06
SI hit the post.  But it’s all been SOL
04 Feb 03:15
Kings badly need a striker/finisher... they should be up by 2+ but could yet lose this
04 Feb 03:18
This Japanese dude, keep it down mate.
04 Feb 03:22
Yoo off the post from outside the 18 yard box. That would have been a real sucker punch that.
