That red card really hurt Krishna's chances for the Alex Tobin, he didn't pick up any points vs WSW because of it & then missed the Jets game. Hopefully he can get back into the race over the next few weeks.

Does anyone have an update on this?

The only contenders going into the last round:

LEADERBOARD

Diego Castro — 25

Milos Ninkovic — 25

Roy Krishna — 24

If it wasn't for that dodgy red Roy would've been in the box seat to win it.

If ALF doesn't score any goals for Sydney, we probably will rest Krishna. Hopefully the Johnny Warren Medal voters have seen things differently over the season and he might win that.

It's quite sad that I can't get excited about Roy getting Golden Boot or Johnny Warren because that will just increase the likelihood that he'll be gone next season.

Either that, or it increases the likelihood of Krishna hanging around because other quality players want to come here to play with him.

Shark, what's next? We don't want to win the league because that increases the likelihood that others will want to tip us off our perch next season.

While we are at it, let's not recruit a winning, charismatic coach, lest other clubs will poach him halfway through his contract!

Le Fondre unable to score tonight. Very happy for Krishna to pick up the golden boot, could have scored a few more two. Credit to Mark for getting his confidence back.

Yes saw they are supposedly down 30% in the last 12 mths.

Still don’t somehow see Dolores as a property baron. More likely upset Winnie killed the CGT.

SBS reporting that Sydney are "closing in" on Krishna. Wonder if this is his agent trying to get him a better deal with us of if there's some truth to it

Apparently they were after Kosta, have a bunch of cap space. Seems more likely that Krishna would end up there than Kosta.

I know this sounds ridiculous but I feel like if Krishna were to move he'll flop. But maybe its more just what i'd hope.

I see what you mean, he's a pretty reserved guy. Moving to a big-money, perennially contending team like Sydney doesn't really fit his personality. I love him, but you can always guarantee that he'll be absolutely invisible in at least 7-8 games a season. On huge wages and with the pressure he'd receive from fans and the Sydney media (on a level that completely surpasses anything he's ever experienced in his career to date), I could definitely see him not doing too well.

That being said, if the reports are true that we've offered him $425,000 a season, and Sydney have offered him more than $750,000, he'd be crazy not to leave.

I wish my boss threw 750K at me just to be invisible.

People here thinking Roy will flop in league leading teams. Although at a lower level he's done his stints at both Waitakere United and Auckland City when they were dominating NZF even went to the Club World Cup so I can't see why he won't just carry on and play his game.

Would love for him to stay but if someone offers more money then he deserves it, he's busted his arse off for a mediocre nix team over many years even though we picked him up much later in his career.

Would love him to stay and have been pretty vocal that the Nix do all they can to keep him. However I'm not bankrolling the club aside from buying the shirts/scarfs and occasional ticket when I'm in Wellington. But when you have a season like he's had, it's definitely going to attract some interest.

Can't begrudge him the opportunity at one last big contract towards the backend of his career. It would be interesting to see how he'd play at another A-League side given the setups and differences in playing styles, and whether managers would get the same impact/form out of him as what he's shown this season.

In saying that, sign the contract and stay in Wellington Roy! We'll love you more than any other club could. Surely that counts for something? ?

Frankly if the Nix arnt throwing marque money at him they don't deserve to keep him. Not sure it's a case of him failing in Sydney or Melbourne they just dont strike me as the sort of places he would be comfortable living in.

As much as it would suck to lose Krishna, he deserves to get paid. This is the time to think about securing your future, especially with his late start to his pro career. I just hope that it will be us writing the cheques

Get in Roy! So proud of him, and proud that a product of domestic New Zealand football can go on to win against incredible players like Castro, Toivonen. Honda, etc. Immensely deserved.

Great news.....well done Roy. Thats two Nix Johnny Warren medals.

At 31 Roy is probably going to finish his career in the A-League. He has been banging in goals his whole career but you wonder what sort of career path he would have had if he had been given a chance in the A-League when he was younger. He was the wrong sort of player for Herberts long ball tactics.

Phoenix now have the most Johnny Warren medals out of any club in league history - Smeltz, Burns, and Krishna puts us alone at top spot with three. Massive achievement and I’m so proud of Roy for getting what he deserved, humbling guy

Yeah, but what value do the Nix really add to the A-League?

I'm thinking whether we keep Roy or not would be an indicator of the owners hopes (or not) of the club surviving past its licence. Gonna take a bit of coin

I'd like to think the fact he's turned down the WU offer that he wants to stay here, hopefully Welnix have offered him the money he needs to stay and lead us to some glory next season.

You know, I never bought that story, because what would Kalezic know about rugby? Sounds like an agent's tall tale.

He's allegedly turned down that kind of money from WU, and Sydney's offering even more. Allegedly.

I don't think it's that unbelievable. a) Kalezic was an arsehole, b) all it required was him simply knowing that they mainly play rugby in Fiji.

Wild speculation, but what are the visa conditions for Fiji nationals getting into Aus vs NZ? If I recall correctly, Roy's wife works and lives in Fiji (mainly) and travels down to NZ when she can. I wonder if one of the reasons he might want to stay is that it is easier for his wife to make regular trips to NZ?

Both countries require Fiji citizens to have a visa. I don't think it would make all that much difference.

Deserved award last night. Said he'd confirm where his future lies in a couple of weeks (when his deal runs out), on Radio sport this morning.

Really hope he stays, but certainly wouldn't begrudge him a move.
