chidley has done nothing for dunedin football.

Other than raise potentially more money for the sport than anybody else in the region, organise more than 10 overseas trips for young players including securing entry into the milk cup, brought out some of the best imports the region has seen in the past 15-20 years.

Yeah that pretty much amounts to nothing.

I agree with horses head, granted Otago dont have the players to threatin Auckland or Waitakere's dominance but there real problems lie off the field.
The sooner they get rid of them clowns behind the scenes the better (Chidley and Lamont) ..... I have never known so much bullsh*t to come from someones mouth as them two!

Yeah time for new faces on the board, Chids is a good fundraiser but not GM material

I am an avid fan of Otago FC, however like others am often dissapointed by the rumours and apparant lack of action from the board members, coaches, and administrators within the franchise. The current lack of a coach at the moment is a clear indication. However, I do happen to know that some of the mentioned board members do (and are prepared to) put a lot of time and energy into Otago FC. Does anyone else know of anyone that is prepared to commit as much time as they do?

So, before ranting and raving continues, why dont those that have some thought in this issue propose ways to improve things or suggest better alternatives. It's easy to moan, but how many of you can provide valuable input.

Do they even have a team?

What is the old adage - FAILING TO PREPARE IS PREPARING TO FAIL. This is so true of this franchise
It almost seems that, as it is the last season in the current format, those supposedly running it are doing their best to make sure it is questioned by NZF whether a team should come from Otago. Therefore killing the higher level of football for the next generation. Unless they move elsewhere of course.

Rumours flying around that Michael McGarry is the new Otago coach

Perry Groves, In reply to these rumors they are just that-rumours. I have heard from a very strong source that Sean Brand will be Otago United Player/Coach this season

So who is the actual coach and when is it starting? All of the other NZFC teams have their coaches and teams more or less sorted out and training has commenced etc. Come on Otago, sort it out.

Apparently Phelo has got his lawyers in as the contract he's got says 3 years and the argument is when it started from. He never signed anything for the first two as that was his favorite story, and Otago are saying that whem he finally officially signed it was back dated. So otago is in limbo until they sort out their legal position. Bodes well for the season

Fair call Perry. However id prefer to see Rodney in the middle of the park with Steve Brooks and Rab Smith upfront and Alan Lailder sweeping the defenceSneaky Butler 22009-09-24 19:49:56

So an interesting piece in the ODT today from Blair Scoullar. I have to agree with Blair the whole club and board are an absolute joke, but why did he have to lick Phelos arse so much?

Mickey Mouse board who appoint a coach who tells the players they wont be getting any money this year and he tells them hes only getting 250 bucks a week!!!! 250 too much if you ask me.
I mean what coach tells his players his wages?. Its going to be one long hard season , especially with the players who will be there tonight.

True he's had enough of being back stabbed at roslyn.

it's about time the ODT did some proper reporting. While I agree with the sentiments about the board (as I've voiced before) Phelo has to take some of the blame as the buck stops with the coach.

It's a done deal about Boylan. Apparently there has been several people working hard behind the scenes at Roslyn to undermine the work he was doing, so he's pulled the pin. Must be something in it, terry parle going, hugh madden steps aside and now boylan.
