Watched Tech v GI today very close game and GI probs did  enough to win it. have to say impressed with both teams on how they defend. I know hes from England and linked with Burnley but what other info do we have on the GI coach doing very well so far. has he applied for the Otago job????

Fun fact: Cavvy have only been held scoreless 4 times since the 2007 SPL.
The last time Tech and Cavvy both failed to score in a round was in April 2004.

Big win for Liverpool and G.I won too, what a weekend this has been!

They've definitely improved since your day Sylvia. Not only do they try to string 3 passes together, they actually manage it on a regular basis.

So you just attended the one game over the weekend then?

Fair enough, I guess it is hard to judge considering all the games are on at the same time.

Mosgiel CB would almost certainly have been there though, he marked Hancock out of the game. Big tackles and a few line clearences

Everyone has their own opinion I am just merely stating the players that best performed in this weeks round. Ok Tom Bekkers did have a good game from what I heard so unlucky for the big man to miss out

How many of this weeks team of the week would make Otago United lineup in the coming season?

How's the league going down there this season? It's all go up in Auckland

So that's my boy??  Shit he's handsome just like me! Jude - I must be your father!

Hey good win this weekend Horsey boys - knock off Varsity next week and you'll be sitting nice and tight there  - ready to pounce.

Where are all those haters who said we were all talk????? tech been shoved aside to join Qtown, Northern and Mosgiel. Braes this week with the other challengers facing one another should see us pull clear of the pack. Feels pretty good knowing we are the top guns.

GI til I die!!!!!

Still a long way to go there Onion - nobody has ever won the league in the first round

A good win for GI no doubt but to be fair to Tech it sounds like they were missing alot of firepower at the weekend. Probably a good result for the league in general (as was Mosgiel's draw). All of the top 5 will be fancying themselves at this point....

Nobody is saying you GI cant do it, well......some are.....haha..........but can you blame them for being sceptical? In horse(head) racing terms you are a 1200m maiden who is unproven at the longer distance, so it will be interesting to see if you can keep up down the final straight when the perennial big guns start making their runs.....

Roslyn too have fallen down in the final run in, too many times in recent years. Maybe GI will have to "lose one before you win one".........who knows.....maybe Bet365 can put up the latest league winner odds to help guide us?

Allo, as the boys tell me there is alot of team discussion on here, allow me to introduce myself,

Craig Doble' (pronounced Dough-Blay, as I am 1/8th French from my mothers side),

I am head coach of Green Island this year. As coach I like to keep things simple. This year the boys, yes they are still very young, are on a solid diet of 'DE-FUC", that is: Discipline, Endurance, Fourfourtwo, Unification, and Communication"

So far it has been working, with the boys setting the standard early in the season. I am pleased with their efforts to date, and would like to place 50 of your New Zealand dollars on my boys to go all the way this season.

Sent NZ Football an email this morning asking them whats going on, and when the draw will be released. No reply as yet.

They havent even got the results from April 25th prelim round up on the website yet - hopeless, and to think its the 90th anniversary of the cup.

Draws are generally done the following Tuesday after each round, so we may see something later today......I'm not holding my breath though.

Lockhart and Smith played, Da Costa is out for the majority of the season, so is Burgess. Ross and Matt didn't play but that wouldn't have changed much of the game imo.
