That cannot be our strongest squad for Southern United surely.

There is next to no experience in that group, massive gamble.

That is up there with one of the weakest OU/SU sides ever named.

I would go as far as to suggest a XI made up of FPL players who aren't in that squad, would put 5 or 6 past that side.

The genius is obviously working his genius. Us mere mortals don't really understand genius. I counted 21 players so that leaves four spots to be filled. The experience and out of town talent must be still to come and with the five academy spots still to be named there are still nine places up for grabs. Must say Overmire is a touch unlucky at CB when compared to the Mosgiel lad. Still, the samba drums are beating loud at this stage of the season.

Also we had better hope Tom Batty stays fit. Don't see much back up there.

This is by far the worst team ever!Name a team that was half a bad?

Liam Little - Caversham

Colin Falvey - Mosgiel (previously Ireland)

Tim Horner - Caversham

Blair Scoullar - Dunedin Tech

Rhys Henderson - Caversham

Michael Smith - Caversham

Tristan Prattley - Dunedin Tech

Andy Coburn - Dunedin Tech

Seamus Ryder - Caversham

Morgan Day - Mosgiel

Regan Coldicott - Mosgiel

Robbie Deeley - Caversham

Barry Gardiner - Southland Spirit

Aaron Burgess -  Dunedin Tech

Sean Brand - Roslyn Wakari

Dave Dugdale - Caversham

Tom Jackson - Caversham

Tom Conner - Roslyn Wakari

Al Rickerby - Mosgiel

2-3 Imports to be added

Looks solid at the back with Little, Falvey, Horner, Scoullar etc and good up front with Burgess, Dugdale maybe Jackson, but a bit lightweight in midfield except for Coburn.

They will need some quality in midfield from their imports i reckon.

Overall not too bad, missing a few Tech and Cavy players like Mckenzie, Chisholm, Jasper, Overton, Wild that would have been nice but ok none the less.

Look at this team-It had Brando for F4ck sake

Plenty of Cavvy and Tech representation in that side. Not much Cavvy and Tech representation in this side. Things must have changed on the local scene with those teams being replaced at the top of the league by Roslyn, Northern, Mosgiel and University. I must check the league table to see how this years league finished!

I reckon they will struggle to get a point, how many players in that group have played at Kiwitea St or in fact played anywhere other than the Cali? They must be getting in some imports surely otherwise NZ football will give them the boot like Manawatu. No experience at this level in any players or any of the coaches/management, gonna be a rude awakening, hope the bus driver knows where to go?????

This is stunning. Luiz WHAT ARE YOU DOING? How many caps would be combined? The Youth Team could put a couple on them. A real disappointed fan :-(

Day = 47, Batty = 33, Sam = 30, Matty (word on the street is he's in) =  28, Regan = 27, Jude = 18, Aajay = 17, Victor (fingers crossed) = 12....then it drops off a bit for sure...like Geordie = 2 is next.  Some of the boys will step up. but yeah experience is really lacking.  But then he's getting some imports is the word...

The coach was prob 5th choice tbf & doesn't have any cred within local football, hence why the squad is made up of D rated players including all those futsal misfits on the coaching staff.

Seriously, do some of these guys play Fletcher Cup? Never heard of Logan Wrightwebb, Henry Flood or Mitchell Carter (Cavy maybe?). As for Corkhill, Toubat, Ebanda and Morris, I could think of at least two better players at each of their positions from the FPL. At this rate we might as well sign up Mpondo too....

$1000 to the person who can solve this question..

Q-Name one player from the former 150+ that have played over the last 10 years for OU that wouldnt make this squad?

They have had to of play at least one regular season game.

Good question, I can think of a few pretty bad players over the years but they would still make the class of 13/14

Warren Auburn - the keeper but in saying that I don't see a second keeper in the squad so maybe he might.

I've seen wrightwebb play a few times for varsity. Scored two great headers from set pieces, one against Old boys and a cracker against roskyn. Physically he is as quick as geordie or Connor, and would outleap either of them 9 times out of 10.

He is obviously young and inexperienced, but he'll get better. Who was luiz supposed to sign?

Ebanda hasnt been given much of a chance, i dont think yaya toure could hold braes together. Played pro in Ukraine, so he obviously has talent, an with a decent (hopefully) team around him, he should be able to control his aggression.

Toubaat  is similar to Gui, and will only be used if Vic doesnt return.

Pete Rae cant do less the. burgie did last year. And with a team that wont be able to hold the ball easily in the attacking third, it's quick and talented players like Rae and Coldicott that will give us any hope on a counter

Like F#@k he is, Melo is miles better, might look similar in fletcher cup grade in Invercargill
is this the same Pete Rae that was absolute crud for Roslyn a couple of seasons back?

Did I read Aajay Cunningham down as a wide player? Surely we're not going to try that again. Get that young left winger from tech in there, McLennan I believe. Gave Roslyn a torrid time in that final game. Ran rings around Roslyns right back

Similar playing styles. No work rate, and more focussed on wowing the crowd than scoring goals.

It's also the same Peter Rae that outscored Ant hancock as a teenager for south canterbury (13 goals), and probably scored 10+ goals for uni this season. Who would you suggest instead? Rickerby is about the only option

I would rather try fit a Southern United kit and two pairs of Active Intent boots on a Donkey and put him up front in place of Peter Rae

Scoring 10+ in that league isn't anything special...
who were the top 10 leading scorers this season anyway?
Rickerby...Fraser Cameron...???
